2003 Si EP3 idle moving up and down

For some reason whenever my car isn't fully warmed up yet, the idle will surge between about 1500 and 2500 rpm. This will happen until the car is fully warmed up and then it will stop and stay at a normal under 1000 rpm idle. I have done many things to try to fix the problem, and it does work for the first two times I start the car, but it then just goes back to the surging idle. I've looked up and done most of the things people have said on YouTube but again, nothing has worked.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so how did you solve the problem?

It's just become an annoyance now and I'm not sure what to do next.

Thanks for the help!

I took apart the throttle body to clean it, but focused on the idle control valve because some people said that that is the cause a lot of the time. I put everything together with new gaskets.

I also purged the coolant system.

Like what I mentioned, the first few times I turned on the car after these fixes it was fine, but after that it went back to how it was.

Sounds like a sticking IACV to me. It's difficult to clean, you may not have gotten it fully.

Ah haven't checked for vacuum leaks yet. Would make sense. I'll try it out, thanks!

The IACV I made sure that thing looked almost brand new when I was done. It looked to much better after I was sure that that was it. It was sticking a little when I took it off but when I put it back in it moved much more smoothly.
