Code P0340 Engine overheat then stalls
Code P0340 Engine overheat then stalls
Have a long commute in Tucson (over 1 hour each way). Car runs fine with A/C on for first part of commute. On return trip home, engine overheats and stalls about five minutes from house. Code is P0340. This has happened three times at the same location of my commute. Have replaced Camshaft position sensor but continues with problem. Other solutions may include timing belt tensioner but have looked at repair videos and they look difficult for me. Help!
Re: Code P0340 Engine overheat then stalls
Did you replace with a genuine Honda sensor?
Not sure why it would be the timing belt tensioner. A faulty sensor makes sense but I don’t see how replacing the tensioner would make a difference. It’s just a little spring-loaded one from what I can remember.

Thanks for the response. When I googled the code it did not mention the tensioner. That solution came from an auto parts store. Looks like a wire/connector problem due to the long drive/heat.
Re: Code P0340 Engine overheat then stalls
I would focus on the engine overheating issue first.
Why is it overheating? Low or leaking coolant? Coolant overfilling the reservoir but radiator is low?

Re: Code P0340 Engine overheat then stalls
Replaced with a Direct Import brand sensor. No change in the problem, still stall and overheats during last 5 minutes of return commute. After leaving engine off for 10-15 minutes, engine returns to normal operation and heat range on gage.
Re: Code P0340 Engine overheat then stalls
Temperature gage goes from middle of range (normal) to just under high and engine loses power and stalls. This is during the evening commute after about 1 hour of operation on the freeways in Tucson (100+ degrees).
