Very frustrating cel code p0341
Very frustrating cel code p0341
Want to see if anyone on here can help me. I have been on several forums and have not got rid of it. I have had this code for like 60k miles, ya that long. Its reall starting to frustrate me, plus I need to off soon cause of car inspection. The code is p0341 which is Variable Valve Timing Control (VTC) phase gap. Meaning the vtc solenoid is not working. This first happened along time ago. I was just driving normally and the check engine light came on, well bout a min later got stopped at a red light and found out my car was in limp mode also cause couldnt go over 4k rpms. So got it checked at autozone and then when I cranked the car when I started to leave it was not in limp mode anymore wtf. It has been running fine ever since but still the code.
I have tried almost everything. I have replaced the camshaft positioning sensors, vtc solenoid, cleaned the vtc screen, checked and cleaned the vtec solenoid, I was lead to believe that the timing had jumped a tooth so I checked it and it was on timing. The only thing I have not done is replace the vtec solenoid or the crankshaft positioning sensor and they are both expensive as hell and not sure if it would fix it or not The only thing I can think of is maybe a faulty wiring or my ecu.

Re: Very frustrating cel code p0341
Bump.
Same car, same problem.
I went ahead and bought a new cam position sensor and swapped each old one, one at a time for the new one, neither placement of the new sensor cleared the code. (Cleared the trouble code w/ a scan tool after each sensor swap, but code came back after starting the car again after ~20sec)
Have read all kinds of stuff that could be the problem.
-Cam skipped/broke a tooth.
-Loose/worn timing chain.
In addition to all of the common stuff associated with the code.
I've already inspected the wiring on mine as well, everything 'looks' okay.
Unfortunately I'm not yet adept enough in auto repair to check the timing, if the cam jumped a tooth or if the chain is loose/worn.
If there's anything obvious to check beyond what I have listed and help/tips would be greatly appreciated.
I've only had this car for a couple of years, I got it really cheap as it was apparent the first owner didn't take very good care of it. I have not put many miles on it since I first got it as I knew it probably had some gremlins. I now have the money to get it fixed up right and in regard to the engine/drivetrain/ecu this trouble code is the last problem I have to clean up before I move on to some (extensive) cosmetic issues.
My car presently seems to be running fine, no RPM limit and the VTEC is engaging properly, so I'm not sure what is up.
TIA for any help!
