For the sake of $80 ($60-ish USD, which isn't even that much more than you'd be spending on just the cap), there's no point in not replacing the entire assembly. I understand the idea of being frugal in this scenario, but you'll end up spending more in the long run, either from the rest of the assembly failing or from the cheap plastic from the crap one you bought the first time failing.
The only caps I can find are generic off-brand, so that's what you're going to be stuck with.

Re: Gas smell, and Voila!
OEM is $380 us and it's the entire assembly as well.
so the $130 cdn for the aftermarket one is a pretty good deal.
Or you can gamble on cheap Chinese parts
Apparently, my presumed CA Emissions Civic has a 49 State fuel pump assembly - why did I order CA only parts? The underhood sticker says Federal AND California.
The filter assy I ordered is nowhere NEAR what I pulled out of the tank tonight. It looks like the one in my 1st post. At least it came out easily; hell - I'll be a Gen 7 fuel pump expert after this.
The strainer looks like it may work.
I ordered a BECK/ARNLEY 0433012 (043-3012) filter assy a bit ago.
