Re: Won't rev above 3000
as far as sensors go, I never found a 3rd party sensor that the D17 played nice with. Also, handle that sensor with care, it's a finicky little thing. Don't drop it, overtorque it, etc. Was working fine, did a timing belt job, dropped it during reinstall from maybe 8-12", threw a code upon starting, replaced with a new OEM one. Did a head gasket job after that, everything went fine until reinstall, accidentally put a bit too much torque on it, threw a code, replaced with a new OEM one. Any job I did after that where I had to remove the CKP sensor, I treated it like a princess, and had zero problems.
Re: Won't rev above 3000
Corrosion at the CKP sensor harness and wires? Liquid (coolant) trapped in connector? Harness connections loose and not making proper connection to sensor? Wa this after a timing belt service? I believe advice is to not disconnect the harness at the CKP and just remove bolt to move our of way when performing timing belt service to avoid CKP problems.
