Cracked 02 LX Cylinder Head Cover

Just bought this 02 LX and put 200 miles on it. Popped hood to clean it up a bit and found this crack in the valve cover. Drives fine from 0-3000 RPM. No clue what causes this type of damage. To fix, I need to buy a new cover and gasket and install?

That’s a crack in the paint silly.

do not worry about it and any amount of picking at it will just make it bigger.

Interesting. I'll pull the cover off today and inspect it more thoroughly. I appreciate the feedback.

I think Slumpertcivic is right
but if you found it really leaking you can use a strong glow cheaper than buying cover with gasgate

Looks like corrosion with paint bubbling to me.

No oil leak so it's not a problem. Without removing the valve cover (necessitating gasket set replacement): Scrape, clean, repaint?
