Re: Throttle Position Sensor

That is the exact part number the Honda guy told you? That’s not what he uses at the dealer.

I understand wanting to save money but you also want your issue to be resolved. That sensor is very important and tells the cars computer what your engine needs to run.

**if it shares the same part number as a NTK or Denso then it is a knock off. There are fake sensors out there.

Because if the cat is clogged this will give the exhaust gases a place to escape. Keep in mind the check engine light will be on for the O2 sensor while you do this test since it won't be installed.

And buy the proper Denso/ntk sensor

Ok my apologies for the late response. Here is the current situation. Another co-worker suggested that it was the CAT so we conducted an experiment we removed the whole exhaust and cat from underneath the headers. As soon as we did that the car revved above 2000 rpms in Neutral and while driving all be it very loudly. If my tags had not been 2 months behind i would have driven the car like that despite living in California.

So my other co-workers bro who works for the Honda dealership found me a shop that would get me a new cat for 300 parts and labor plus some tax. The put the new cat on yesterday. Told me the car ready. I picked the car up. I'm driving home and the check engine light comes back on and to top it off I start to smell exhaust fumes from inside the car. Something that I did not smell before the new cat was put on.

The check engine light shows engine codes for the upstream O2 sensor which was alread replaced and now shows a code for the MAP sensor which was also replaced 3 months. So now what do you think the issue is? Did the shop mess up some where and didn't tighted up the bolts on the exhaust right? Did they mess up during the welding part? Did they try resetting the ECU wrong? Or do I need to just drive the car a certain amount of miles until the new CAT kicks in?

FYI, since you guys like all available info. The new CAT the shop gave me was a universal one.

Thank you

Did you put the OE one in like we said???

If it gives the wrong signal to the ECU the car will not run correctly.

The new cat might give off an odor for a bit.

Re: Throttle Position Sensor

New exhaust parts will smell for a bit after installation, all the shipping oils are burning off. That universal cat will probably only last a year. You need to put the proper O2 sensor on it.
