Buzzing when turning the ignition key
Buzzing when turning the ignition key
I searched the threads and it seems like I have a switch issue but want to confirm.
This just started on my 03 Civic LX. If I turn the key too slow, I hear a slight buzzing, like a chattering contactor, and it's definitely in the key switch area of the column. I read where this would be normal if I turn the key too slowly but it never happened before. If I turn the key fast, the starter will crank. It will also crank if I keep turning the key farther.
Does this sound like an ignition switch problem and is the switch replacement a complicated job? I am a long time experienced mechanic and have the shop manual.
Thanks.

Re: Buzzing when turning the ignition key
I looked at a few you tube videos and the switch appears to be on the end of the lock assy and easily removed. Is this where the buzzing sound would be coming from? The end cap? Is that the switch? And you can replace that and leave the key lock assy in place?
