04 civic SE new battery is leaking
04 civic SE new battery is leaking
Hi guys,
I have a 2004 honda civic SE.
I just started my car today after a day without using it and the battery light came on in the dash.
I decided to check the battery and saw that it was leaking acid a lot.... I change it for a brand new one which is leaking too.
My battery light still on in the dash too.
Can it be my alternator that is overcharging my battery ? I changed it 2 years ago.
Help please
Thank you

Re: 04 civic SE new battery is leaking
Need to measure the voltage at the battery with the engine running. should be around 14 volts if it's significantly higher then the alternator is over charging
Re: 04 civic SE new battery is leaking
Turns out that the voltage at the battery was around 18 volts ! I changed the alternator and everything is fine.
