Car won't start unless I turn wheel
Car won't start unless I turn wheel
I have a 2003 Civic ex. When I put the key in and turn it, it will click and the lights will come on, but it won't turn crank. Then, if I turn the wheel a little bit, it will actually start. The wheel isn't locked up, and will actually turn. The battery and alternator are both good. I'm assuming it's something in the ignition or starter, or possibly some sort of short or loose wire, but I want to figure out a way to definitively diagnos it before I start buying parts and what not.
Thanks for any help

something wrong with the wiring in the steering column, ignition switch may be bad, pop the covers off and start looking. do you have a test light or a multimeter?
Re: Car won't start unless I turn wheel
Yeah, I've popped the covers off and check for loose wires and didn't find anything. I have a test light and a multimeter. I've never actually tried to diagnose this type of problem though, so I don't know what to check.
Re: Car won't start unless I turn wheel
So, this morning, after I drove to work I tried to start my car again, and it wouldn't start. Then instead of turning the wheel at all, I took the key out and flipped it over and put it back in and it started up. Is it possible I just need a new key or something?
