Ok Ill try and keep this simple, I drove my car to my buddys house about 30 mins away it started fine no problems, turned car off, got out got my buddy,got back in tried to start car and my key wouldnt f'n turn!!! like not at all! it would go in fine and come out fine but wouldnt turn not even to accesorie! took my key out and looked at it and it was ever so slightly bent, so I kept trying since my spare key was a 30 min drive away! nothing still wouldnt turn. So my buddy went in to get his keys so he could drive me to my place to get the spare and I tried once more nothing, than I just tilted the wheel down a little just to see if it would do anything and I tried and it turned and started! So I have no idea why the **** that happened. Im not sure if it had anything to do with the tilt steering being moved or juts chance. It hasnt happened since and I now use my spare key but does ANYONE have any ideas on what caused it???????

Sometimes the steering wheel mechansim wil cause this. I have no idea why. When it happens just turn your steering wheel back and forth while turning the key (in that inch or so of travel). That will free the lock.

This isn't specific to the civic by the way. Just something that happens sometime.

This happens on all cars. It's caused by tension on the steering lock. Just turn the wheel a little bit to release the tension and voila!

I tried turning the wheel but than it locked and I couldnt, the only thng that may have helped was the tilt steering

the wheel locking is the problem. when it locks you cant start the car and you have to move it back and forth to turn the key.
