AC Condenser help please, and fast.
AC Condenser help please, and fast.
I’m in need of some sound advice on the quickest fix just to keep this car running until I have a permanent fix done. 2021 Civic EX. It revolves around AC but it’s winter so that’s what makes it odd for this time of year. The car developed a noise, doesn’t get worse under acceleration from the engine bay. My initial thought was the tensioner pulley going bad. Once my buddy and I got it in his garage we figured it out. AC compressor. We started digging and we were looking at 1 of 3 things.
1: delete the ac compressor for now. I couldn’t find one that said it would work in the 10th gen. If you know of one ca. you shoot me a link?
2: is there a belt that could possibly be used to bypass it. Like it just sits down there with no belt but the belt and route of this shorter belt still allows everything else to run? I do know some older civics I saw they’d done that.
3. Worst case I swap out the compressor. Will it hurt to just swap it, not refill, and worry about air conditioning later. Compressor isn’t cheap, will I hurt it just letting it sit there being a pulley? I can refill Freon later.
I guess I’m looking for any suggestion to keep my car moving. I’m in a lease next to a neighbor I need to get away from. Bitch is tooooooxic! I use this car for part time delivery of groceries. I know this pulley is gonna lock up eventually and strand me. I need that extra right now. Any help is appreciated.

Re: AC Condenser help please, and fast.
Honda extended the warranty for the compressor and condenser to 10 years/unlimited mileage on the 10th gen a while back, though it needs to fit certain parameters in order to qualify (pretty readily available online). If it fits, you should be able to get it replaced.
