seized AC
seized AC
Hi there I need some help. And yes I read all the threads but want to make sure I get it correct.
I own a 2007 civic EX and I believe my ac compressor seized or maybe not but that's what I've been told. Anyway it was making weird noises for about a week and when I went to start it one day a belt ( Serpentine or alternator ) ( im clueless thats why I need advice ) broke and I had absolutely no power steering and the battery light came on. I was told the ac compressor seized so I see that I can bypass it by buying a alternator belt for non ac civic? Please help with any advice and/or info on how to bypass the ac compressor so I can get it fixed asap until I can fix the ac compressor issue later. Thank you. By the way im a lady so be nice with the comments lol.

If everything checks out besides the AC compressor, go get a belt for a non AC Civic and install it. As long as the AC compressor was the only issue, you should be good to go. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Re: seized AC
When you check the A/C compressor, the outside should spin freely. The center of the pulley is what actually spins the compressor. It will have some resistance but you should still be able to rotate it.
As far as I know, what @D17VTECPOWER said is correct. A/C was still an option in '07 so a belt for no A/C is available.

Re: bypassing the ac compressor????
Do not drive the car, that belt runs the water pump and it will quickly overheat. Try to spin each of the pulleys one by one manually. None of them should have any significant side to side play and they should all spin freely, smoothly and quietly besides the crank pulley (the big one at the bottom of the engine). You won't be able to turn that one by hand.
