2016 Civic Touring TOTALLY DEAD
2016 Civic Touring TOTALLY DEAD
Our civic has a new problem, this month it has gone dead three times. There we no lights at all, the entire dash and all electronics were black. It started with a jump, but we couldn't even open the trunk to get out the jumper cables. We had the battery and charging system tested at Auto Zone and it tested above standard. So what gives?. After jump starting all systems reboot and we have to drive it around the block to get the dashboard idiot lights to go off. Does anyone else have this issue?? Autozone said it's a heat issue, we had a heat index of 110 last week.

Could be a warning of battery at that age....?
For 2 generations now, I can no longer monitor the battery fluid level.....Thanks Honda.

Long shot, I know, but was there ever any resolution to this?
I have a 2016 Honda Civic with a very similar issue. There is zero response from the electrical system, will not operate door or windows, no accessory mode, and the transmission is stuck in park and will not engage at all. The brake is pinned in place as well, there's usually a bit of give when it's in park, but not now. Will not jump off of the plug in battery charger, doesn't seem to be responding to charge, either. I'm loathe to take an uber to the autoshop to buy a battery for no reason.
Battery went out in my wife's 2017 CRV, but it at least had accessory mode, a million warning lights (none of which indicated, you know, that the battery was dead), and would shift into neutral.

Yes, I do, but no time until Saturday morning. If you have some suggestions for then, I will be grateful for them.
I did unhook the battery cables for 15 minutes, hooked back up and it was still a dead stick. But when I hooked the battery charger back up to give it a boost it started back up immediately, and has since driven around and started several times with zero issues or indications of trouble.
I assume there's a short somewhere or something that somehow overloaded the system? Was hoping for a dead battery, honestly, this seems like it's going to be much more time/money.

That's a logical place to start. If this is the issue, is there any way to diagnose that without the problem being replicated? It's working fine now, I'm not sure when/if it will occur again.
