Question Problem keeps coming back after multiple repairs

About a year ago my mom fell into some major medical issues, was in the hospital for 2 months. The whole time her 2019 Honda civic with 4400 miles on it sat in her parking spot at her condo. After she was released from the hospital she asked I take it and park it my house for a while so a nurse that came a few times a week could use her parking space.

The car didn't start so I jumped it and drove it to my house. The car drove fine but I had a ton of indicators in the digital panel. Vehicle stability assist problem, brake hold system problem, collision mitigation system problem, hill start assist problem, etc.

Over the next 6 months I jumped and drove the car a few times to see if all the indicators were still on and they were. The car still drove just fine otherwise. Then one day the power steering wasn't working. At this point I decided to take it into my local auto shop to get a new battery and see what could be done about the power steering.

The shop put in a new battery ($150) but said the computer needed a reset to clear all the indicators and power steering issue and recommended I take it to the dealership for that, so I did. The dealership said some kind of critter chewed through the power steering wires so I agreed to get that replaced ($620). When they did they called me and said that most of the indicators were still there because the multi-purpose camera malfunctioned and needed to be replace also ($1500). I told them no on the camera since the car drove fine and I needed to think about that.

I can believe that something chewed the wires because there's a ton of rabbits where I live and the car was sitting for over 6 months. I brought the car back to my house thinking a few more days here wouldn't be a big deal and planned to take it back to my mom's where there are no rabbits and where the car had been parked for 4 years without chewing issues. Went away for 3 days and came back and the power steering wasn't working again and all the indicators were back.

Took it to a different dealership that was more convenient and same story, rodents chewed the wires, multi purpose camera malfunctioned. I agreed to the repair ($2500).

This time I took it nowhere near my house and took it right back to my mom's. 5 days later the power steering doesn't work anymore and all the indicators are back.

What is going on???

Re: Problem keeps coming back after multiple repairs

Wires might not be properly fixed, however it can be very labour intensive to find and fix
