Leaky power steering covered by warranty

I went for a trip last weekend to a small town that's at least an hours drive from the nearest Honda dealership. On saturday evening I went for a little drive and heard a noice that was louder than my music. I assumed at first it was someone else's car but when I turned off my music I realized it was mine.

So, I located some PS fluid and topped it up which worked fine. I drove back home the next day but didn't get to a dealer until tuesday morning. The service guy came out and took a look at the PS hoses and saw nothing. He had me start the car and turn the wheel and he noticed fluid coming out of the rack. We went back inside and he played around with his computer a little bit and then told me to come back friday after and they would replace the power steering rack, which was covered under warranty.

Friday came and they did the work to my car. Took about 3-3.5 hours. They had an alignment done as well. Not a huge deal as I had an alignment done a few months ago but since they swapped the rack they had it fixed up. They don't have the machinery to do alignments so they took it to a diff shop to get it done. (More on that after)

So, I got my car back. Works great. I hate to have major "surgery" done to my car that's only 1.5 years old, but better now when it's free than after the warranty runs out.

<rant>

Honda sprayed down my car when they were done. They usually do a good job but this time my car windows were covered with water spots. Kinda irritated me but no biggy. Gonna wash it tomorrow anyway. What did bug me was finding a brown grease-like spot on my passengers seat on the edge between the seats. Looks like some grease monkey (probably the other shop that did the alignment) rubbed his soiled elbow against the seat. So I'm heading back to Honda on monday to voice my displeasure. First of all my car is still fairly new and shouldn't have a PS leak, I was without my car for a whole afternoon on my day off, they did a poor job of hosing down the exterior, and when I got my car back the seat was soiled.

yeah man sounds frustrating. at least they warrantied it. you should tell them you want a new seat since they decided to grease yours up. good luck gettin' it takin' care off. tell them to wash your car again too.

peace

And my day just got better...

I went for a drive today over some bumpy roads and now I have a knock/clunk sound coming from my drivers side that was never there before. And it seems to be getting worse. It may have been there since I got the car back but I only noticed it after about an hour of driving today.

Looks like I have something else to complain to Honda about tomorrow.
