yeah... as an experiment... (may require some cutting)...
just something to wrap around the filter... to keep away those splashes...

hmm...

i'd assume if you angle it just the right amount.. it wont scoop the spashes... but prevent it from hitting the filter...

DIY - look down at the ground, take off your sock, go to your car, pop the hood, wrap your sock around the filter, and your done, two filters, half the price, ne further engine problems i am not liable for, dont use tommy, nike, adidas or ne other name brands socks cuz they dont work as good as the wal mart brand

The sock idea is cute, but I don't think it'll work. Splash guard is a think sheet of metal that covers about half of the filter--the exposed half.

I don't think it'll scoop water, because the filter is aiming downwards, and the splash guard is VERY close to the filter itself (looks like half cm or so).

Basically, if you hit a HUGE puddle, it'll reduce the chance of water touching the filter. When you are gunning it, that little bit of water COULD get sucked it. Just an extra pre-caution. And for short ram intakes, I believe it doubles as a heat-shield..... not sure how effect that would be though.

the FIPK heatshield ownz also prevents water from shooting up the enginebay from a under-car-wash going into the intake

Re: INJEN Splash Guard (Heat Shield)

I doubt it's actually for a CAI... There isn't much any heatshield can do to prevent water in that area. I think the heatshield is for the SRI that's in the engine bay.

Hence the name HEAT shield as opposed to SPLASHGUARD. LOL. But Why not DIY it for less loot? Just grab some sheet metal, maybe a hose clamp...some krazy glue......spot welder....4 cups of sugar.....a shaved monkey......

Well on the 2000+ Celicas (which is the car I want to buy it for), half of the cone filter is sitting side of the bumper cavity, while the other half is exposed to underneath the car..

I think covering that half would help against direct splashes.. (?)
