noise while turning my steering wheel...

lately... in the past month.. it has happened about three times. while i turn the steering wheel.. i would notice a squealing noise... not from the steering wheel... but from the wheels... or at the middle point from the steering wheel to the two wheels.

it's a very disturbing noise... anybody have any clue of what it is?

does a certain part need lubrication...?

and another question.. how long does the standard warrenty last for again..? without the extended warrenty.........?

3years/60,000km??

im at 66km's already.. 2years 6months...and if i needed something replaced.. i definitely dont want to chuck out money for it.......

ok ya i think this mite be the same thing i experienced last winter, one of two things

i used to get a squeeling noise in wet weather and so on (belts had to be tightened, adjusted whatever)

i used to get creaky/squeeling noises turning and so on, the strut bar or something had to be replaced but it was free cause of warranty and cause they have had lotsa problems with them blowing the seal or something...

not sure if this is the same thing, but some input anyway..

it could be many things. first off, is your car lowered? lowering can often cause undesirable noises from the suspension in some cases this is normal. blown struts and cracked bushings are two possibilities. i've heard of someone cracking the lower control arm due the car being too low to the ground combined with wreckless driving. if the noise is not causing any problems with the handling of your ride i'd just leave it alone.

I had a similar problem in an older civic, but the noise seemed to be coming from midway in the steering column. In the end, it turned out to be my horn contacts...just got the shop to lube them up for a couple of bucks and it was fine again.

This may sound stupid but it could be snow build up on the mudgaurds. My moms car made a similar sound when there was a buildup of thick ice preventing the tires from turning all the way

Good call tim it also could be a piece of junk from the road caught in a suspension component....get the car off the ground and look at it and see if the solution is simple
