Why is no one complaining about frozen toes?
I don't know about you guys, but Honda really messed up the the 2001 Civic/EL models....
The vents are just stupid, my toes are ALWAYS frozen, and on days like today, I can't even DRIVE because my toes are so darned frozen (I'm not kidding!)
Was it fixed in the 2002+ models??
Why is no one complaining about it?
Does anyone have a FIX for it? I tried shoving some thick cardboard in an effort to redirect the air to the centre of the foot area, but it just didn't seem right; there wasn't enough air!
The way the vents are directed/constructed, they basically heat the top corner of the foot well......
Any ideas, with pictures, or solutions, is appreciated. I think I will stay in my car this wkend until I get a decent fix. This **** has been annoying me for years.
(I also intend to try cutting out the bottom of a yogurt cup and using that as a funnel to redirect air..... Tho I'm scared it may dislodge and get stuck under the brake pedal on the driver side
)

haha.. good ideas... innovative. whatever get your toes warm.. haha
we had one of the threads on this exact topic............. long long longggggggg ago. haha..........maybe over two years ago? or longer.. around the time when this site first started
do a search... it might still be up.....?
it was just the way the car was designed......... nothing you can really do about it... but to just blast the bottom vents... and wait for a while till the whole car is warm.

I went to the dealer, and in the Yahoo EL forums, everyone was complaining about it as well. Bottom line, they said it was an engineering issue and there is no fix.
Since I have my crazy 96k maintenance soon at the dealer (I'm ballparking $500 cost
), I'll see what they can do for me......

No problems with cold feet on my 03 EL. If anything, I find my feet get too hot eventually when I have the heater set to floor and dash vents, so I usually end up switching it to just dash vents.

My feet were ok today. I even drove at 6am when it was colder than it is now. I think you either need to either do one of two things.
1) wear thicker socks
or
2) stop being a pansy...

I have an '01 coupe and I don't have a problem with cold feet after the engine has fully heated up. I always drive with the floor/defrost vents on in the winter, and usually my feet start to sweat after a while

I spent like an hour in the car trying to get something to work.... The overall design is a POS. I really wanted to go all out and create an entire "distribution" vent for both sides, but I don't have the MAD skills to do something with a durable material, like metal, plastic, etc....
I got the passenger side done temporarily using a piece of stiff paper... I just slipped it "under" the plastic molding, and it basically looks like a "megaphone"... Will use that as a template and get some stiffer plastic. Stuff like a flexible binder from Staples should do.....
The driver side is tough.... Haven't figured out the ideal angles yet... It's a tighter fit due to the pedals... Will keep you guys updated.

Jer2K is right Sig . And I also agree that tims are too air tight I have tham too!!!
actually, I dont understand why, but i know only when i wear timbs my feet do not get any warmer, but when i wear ball shoes which are thinner, i indeed can get warm
so its something with the shoes, it must be!
I know it dont make sense but damnit im cold in my timbs

Orthodix is one of the answers my friend
and the other answer is... Read what you write before you post it, hot damn it's difficult to understand you thugs and your internet terminology...
I have a 2004 LX and I have the same complaint.I thought thewhole system was screwed up because I was using the same air circ method I use on my 92 Accord. i discovered that the interior heats up the fastest when you switch to "panel/feet" after a few minutes of driving. Amazingly the front window stays clear. If I tried this on my Accord the window would fog up in an instant. I almost complained to Honda about my 04 until I figured this one out.
