I didn't read through all the responces, but here's my take on the issue. I would go with the B18. It's got more displacement. If you want the VTEC, it's just a headswap away. There was also an article in Super Compact Car within the last month or two about the B18 swap. From what I remember, it was cheap and easy. Plus, in the end, it more upward modifiable. So, unless you plan on just swapping the engine and nothing else, go with the B18.

Go with a B18B... makes turbo engine management simpler because theres no VTEC to deal with. Lower compression, more displacement (37cc more than a B18C1)... Thats where I'd say to go. Unless of course a B20 is an option....
Ha its not that bad with a H22 in a civic. Everyone makes it out to be so horrible and its really not that different from driving a regular civic. If your gonna get the H22 head over to Honda-Tech.com there are many ppl who have swapped H22's into Civic's and love it.

And they probably only drive in a straight line.

Nope lot's of them autocross and love the extra power they get from it. Go over to Honda-Tech and ask around who has the H22 swap and then talk to them.
