Focus owner here!
I'll race your focus. I really like those AWD Focus that they use in the WRC. The ones in Europe...what are they the Focus XRS or something? I dunno...whatever, but they're pretty nice...

I'll admit it, when i was looking at cars i was looking at the focus. I almost was about to get one too, until i started to read the recalls and nightmares some people have with them, not all but some.
It's alot of car for the money, but sometimes you pay for what you get.

Hey about the recalls.....thats not a big deal....when my buddy bought his focus he took it in that day and they fixed everything for for free....Whats the problem with that?

I've been without my car for a while (not because of a problem of its own) and i don't know about you, but i'd rather be driving my car than waiting for it to come out of the shop, even if the repair is free..

I asked cdmx's buddy for times and got an answer of the focus forum will say the focus is faster and the civic forum will say the civic is faster. But i really didn't ever get beat by a focus when i had my old econobox (Civic EX 5spd). So what kind of ETs does the stock focus get?
oh the stock focus will run in the 8's 0-60. Mid to high 8's normally, low 8's with a good driver.
i think the quarter mile for a stock focus is 16.5 at 83.3 mph.
i was responding with the focus forum will think the focus is faster and the opposite because i say the focus wins and youve said a couple times that the civic wins.

I have 2 friends with a Focus. One has a ZX3 and really likes it. He hasn't had any problems that I've heard of. The other friend, a girl, has gone through a nightmare with her focus and hates it. It was fine for about a year and a half and then suddenly everything started going wrong with it.
Basically I'd imagine that the real reliabilty of the Focus lies somewhere in between those 2 stories.

I dont mind the styling and looks of the Focus ZX3 and SVT's. But one of the main reasons I bought my Civic was for the styling, and the reputation of the Honda name, as well as for the aftermarket support for these kinds of cars.
I am extremly happy with Honda, and the Civic. It might not be the fastest out there out of the showroom, but there are many other cars that are faster and slower, sames goes for the Focus.
As well as if I wanted to make my Civic go faster, its a matter of a quick phone call, and bang the parts come and bolt right up, away we go.
Just my $0.02

16.5, hmmm. that would make it a drivers race. the faster quarter mile time for a stock Civic ex was 15.8 but that's not exactly normal. only a few stock can touch 15s. usually it's more like 16.2, 16.3 sometimes slower, sometimes faster. the 83.3mph part of the focus isn't too bad, i think it's trapping a little higher than a stock civic would.

the focus is a nice little car better handling than the vic's i must admit. he's had his in for a couple recall & non-recall related issues but nothing major & it doesn't make him think any less of his car. i say to each his own.
my friend is a member of focaljet check out pic's of his car here. he can give you any advice you need my freinds zx3 s2

Well. . personally I'm not sure what to think. .
When I saw the topic, I just kinda said to myself, "Oh. . I'm sorry"..
About half to 3/4 of the people on here are into modding. Most of them are into modding Hondas, that's why they are here. I'm sure you're not going to find a wealth of information about a Focus here.
I'm all for welcoming you to the site, but you realize that every post you make you're going to get flamed for your car? That's just the way people are on a site for Civics.
The legitimate answers you get may or may not be accurate, because the person answering most likely owns a Civic.
Now my grandma and my mom both own a Focus. Which honestly kinda pisses me off, but they wont listen to me, because they think they got the best deal in the world. My grandmas's is a 2000, my mom's is a 2002. My grandma hardly drives her car, it's probably got about 12,000 miles on it, if she's lucky. She's had tons of recalls and a few random problems with her car since she got it. My moms car probably has about 12,000 miles and it's leaking some kind of fluid and I noticed recently that it idles really rough and generally runs like $hit compared to my older, higher mileage 2001 Civic with 42,000 miles on it. From what I hear though, all this kind of stuff is normal with a Focus. Anyways. I just kinda smile and remind my mom and grandma everytime they take their car in for service "how great of a deal they got". hehe

well you can say what you want about my car being crap but why would car and driver name it one of the best 10 cars? your big brother the rsx is in there but i dont see any civics? hmm
want proof? here. http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=2447
now if i were the editors at car and driver and i had a car on my hands that broke alot, felt like crap, and was slow as **** (which all of you have said about my car) the LAST thing i would do is put it on the 10 best cars list. somethings fishy. DONT BE SO CLOSED MINDED! ford may have been crap before but they ARE getting better.

^I like the focas.... its a clean desighn, hell before the focas cheap cars just looked cheap. The focas has quality lines and was a good replacement fot the escort.
The SVT focas is a joke! *cough* POS they should have given us the RS
if we had RS I would buy it over a civic and an SRT-4 I believe its like 20 grand.
210hp front wheel drive with a crazy new differential.
anyways I like the focas though I dont know about many parts for them. Kaminari makes a nice hood and bodykit.
in the end the choice for me was between a corrola or a civic and I bought the civic. Now Im probally going to trade it and get a scion TC!!
