Focus owner here!
Hey guys, I just bought a yellow Focus ZX3 last week, kinda spur of the moment. I realy like this car, it replaced my 1985 CRX SI! I have been going to the Focus forums all week. Since I bought this car I have been getting more interested in Mods, and in cars in gereral so I thought this would be a good place to look around every once in a while.
Just kinda curious what everyone's opinions are on this car. I've never been a FORD guy but I must say that this car is pretty sweet.
After I got this car I was kinda thinking I should have test drove a new Civic, but my friend works for Ford, he got me approved , and it happened pretty fast.
I love Honda's for sure , they are great cars, however I think the shape and over all desighn and feel of this FOCUS is hard to beat for under 13,000.
Any idea's on this ....

Well let me be the first to welcome you to the site. You are gonna get flamed for being here, because some guys don't like fords. But it is goood to see a varity here. The only thing that I think the focus has on the Civic is the torque and well the price. I think they are ugly, but that SVT is no joke! Welcome again.

I know you will no doubt fe flammed for your purchase, as you can see already, but I am going to welcome you to the site all the same. You should however sometime go and give the Civic a run, you might just like it better .........

It's not a bad car for the price. I had a ford before, worked good for a while the just out of the blue everything started to brake all at once and thats why I got my civic. I don't care if you are on the site, glad to help you whenever I can. Keep us updated on what you're doing to the car
my good friend owns a focus, & he puts a lot of time & money into it. he loves his car so much
where are you from?.. I read Littleton, but their's a littleton in every state practically
the focus is a nice little car better handling than the vic's i must admit. he's had his in for a couple recall & non-recall related issues but nothing major & it doesn't make him think any less of his car. i say to each his own.
my friend is a member of focaljet check out pic's of his car here. he can give you any advice you need my freinds zx3 s2
good-luck!

good luck on getting any positive reviews about your vehicle here....If its not a civic, everyone here will hate it (exceptions of course) .... Personally I don't mind the focus, but the safety of the vehicle has a bit to be desired ...On the other hand, if modded correctly, it can be a fast vehicle with some nice styling .....
Ill stand behind you on buying a focus...I traded in my 2001 civic for a 2002 SVT focus. I know alot of people had problems with stalling out and my civic was one of them (P.O.S) <--at least mine was. plus I put about 3800 dollors into the motor and still only had about 130HP to the wheels.. Now I have 150HP to the wheels pretty much stock in my SVT...
But I don't have nothing against a honda its just that it left a bad taste in my mouth

Ok guys, I knew this would be an interesting topic for all of ya!
Thanks for the welcome, I was kinda curious what kind of responce I would get from Honda owners!
Thanks for the positive reply's, and as for the negative reply's, I was expecting even more then I got ( but it's still early!!!)

I had to drive around a Ford Focus (rental car) for a week.
I had a the auto SE with 16" factory rims.
PROS
1. FELT faster than the Civic but my lx has 14" steels with bad tires. The Focus did have more power on tap when I needed to pass cars on the highway.
2. Alot quieter than the Civic.
3. Seats felts more comfortable but it was a rental car...who knows how many people sat in it.
4. Trunk looked bigger plus its hinges dont interfere with the trunk space.
CONS
1. 16" rims but no tach? Even if it was an auto I still prefer one.
2. Is the car a 3 speed auto? Because it felt and drove like one to me.
3. Door lock/unlock makes a whiny noise before it locks/unlocks.
4. CD player eat my CD!
5. Rear too high. Hard for me to judge distance because I cant see the trunk lid at all.
6. Steering wheel is too thick for me.
7. HORRIBLE at high speeds. Steering is too sensitive. Civic is ALOT more stable at high speeds (85+) than the Focus.
8. UGLY interior. Ovals are not my taste. Some rectangles throw off the whole scheme. Some parts of the interior feel real cheap like the plastic for the sunvisors.
9. ITS A FORD.

Yeah before I even opened the thread, I was visualizing the flames.
Hey welcome, I like variety on any board that I post on. It's too bad many people here don't understand that, but some do. Hey for $13k, I agree that it is a good choice for those with not so much money. Since Honda won't build a hatch, some people have to go elsewhere.

Yeah, cuz that's exactly what I'm thinking at the Ford dealer....
26mpg. check.
efficiency. check.
decent acceleration. check.
record for most recalls ever? check.

i read the thread before any replies, and i knew there will be a couple fire ***** here, that's why didn't want to say a thing. welcome to the website, and ignore those ignorant members that flame because you own a ford. i hope you enjoy your stay. the search button is always helpful, check the regional threads for your locations for any meets and hang outs or car shows. tech stuff have most DIy (but mostly for civics) and general rambling is your best bet for car talks. you can ask opinions and such on products within "product and parts" have a nice day.
