My parents have been telling me that i can get a car if its over 3500 pounds. So far I havent found any that I can do anything to. So I want to ask you guys if you know of any cars over 3500 pounds that you can find a lot of aftermarket parts for.

Rep Power: 0 just buy some really big heavy tires, buy a 10" lift kit and lift the civic!!! then fill the trunk up with about 7 or 8 12"s and some amps and a relly big spare tire mounted to the trunk. well i doubt the engine could handle the weight so chop the front of the engine bay off and drop in a big block engine and get a really heavy body kit.

Rep Power: 341 I don't know the curb weight of an Impala SS, but those are AWESOME cars. I'd love to have one, but the one I had an opportunity to buy was out of my price range. That'd be a good car to have. They keep their value very well because the new ones are no competition to the old ones.

Rep Power: 0 honestly, hondas are damn safe. I have confidence that if I get into any accident, if someone could survive it, I would. However my car probably won't. If you want a car that will save you and itself, get a bmw. I recommend the 330xi because the awd system adds that extra unneccessary weight your dad wants.

Rep Power: 0 I love these kinds of questions! The Impala SS & Crown Vic were a good suggestions...(I figure you are on some kind of budget around the price of a Civic??? $15-$17K) but here are some others that could meet the weight limit imposed by the parents:
BMW has their two big sedans, the 540 and the 740. The "40" means they are powered by a 4.0 liter V-8 which has 282 horsepower. The 540 is the way to go, because it is lighter weight and you can get a SIX speed transmission The biggest problem is you will have to go all the way back to a 1995 model with ~85,000 miles for $15,000 and I wouldn't want to pay your insurance If you want luxury, the 740 is actually about the same price and is full luxury--it cost $80,000 new and has stuff like a factory Bose sound system and reclining rear seats for your pimpin pleasure. Both cars are rear wheel drive of course.
Ford released the limited edition Taurus SHO (Super High Output) V-8 from 1996 to 1999. They completely loaded a Taurus with leather, moonroof, CD, spoiler, etc., and installed a Yamaha-built 235 horsepower V-8. The price new was ~$31,000. In all 4 years of production less than 20,000 of these cars were built. Good news: there is a group of hard-core owners that modify their cars and produce some performance parts for these cars. Bad news: Ford screwed over all SHO owners because the engines had a defect and Ford has done nothing about it. If you buy one of these cars, you can get a 1999 model with only 50,000 miles for only $12,000 to $14,000 but save another $600 to fix the cam gears as soon as you buy the car!
If you want some more I'll give you some more--just tell me what kind of money you are spending and how old or new you are allowed to go...

I think the perfect car that not many people are aware of is a 2 door Pontiac Grand Prix GTP or Buick Regal Gran Sport. They look like old people cars, but they actually have pretty nice interiors and alot of options. (Mechanically they are essentially twins under the different bodies) They come from the factory with a 3.8 liter
supercharged 240 horsepower V-6 with a 4 speed automatic. There are some performance parts and tricks available and some owners have really sneaky fast cars. For 8 grand you can get yourself into a 1997 or 1998 model Grand Prix.
Sorry - GM dropped the 2 door in 1998 - but you still might want to check these out! With CAI, pulley, exhaust, chip, etc, these cars are knocking on a 13 second 1/4 mile. Go to www.regalgs.org and look around because these cars can shock a lot of lighter cars. And yes...they DO weigh 3400-3600 pounds, depending on the options.
My Civics might not be able to outrun them, but they are more reliable
