Little brother most likely getting new Si this week....I might get one too...
My brother (who turns 17 this Sept. 1st) is going to be getting his 1st car this week. Today he went with my mom and drove the new Si agian...my mom gave the thumbs up on it. The seller at our Honda dealer has sold my family 6 cars (including my current Civic), so he is trying as hard as he can to get the price close to the 16.5k to 17k range. My brother can afford that (we pretty much pay for our own cars), and so could I, so should I start thinking about selling my current Civic and getting one?

All I need to do is conivce my dad to let my sell my car...here's my plan: I think I should be able to get 14k selling my car to a private party, and therefore I would be making about 1k after paying off the loan. If I can pull that off, I use that 1k as the downpayment for the Si. Starting the 3rd week of August, I will be promoted to assistant manager where I currently work. This means a raise to $8.50/hr, and a guranteed 25-28 hours a week, which all translates to about $170 or so after taxes per week. I can afford the monthly payments of the Si (used the following numbers to calcuate montly payments on the Si: 17,500 purchase price, 1000 down, 8.75% apr, 60 month/5 year loan). Now all I need to do is prepare a good argument to give to my dad tomorow .

They are advertsing them in NY for $15,995. That must be dead invoice. I havent seen that many of them around and they really arent selling that much either.
don't forget to add another $1000 or so for taxes and fees.
they have plenty up here in lubbock, tx and the guy said he could do $15,995. i checked on the invoice price on it at edumunds and it says the invoice is at $17,822 for the one without side airbags.
i am in the same boat and thinking about it too.

Obviously I feel the new Si's are worth it...they are relaible cars that will get me where I want to go, great gas mileage, roomy inside, safe cars, and the K series motor has more potential and is more tuner friendly than the D one I have now.

Talked to my dad agian...he really wants me to just stick with the Civic for now, untill I get out of college atleast. Somebody slap me or something the next time I think about getting rid of the Civic.
I only like the new Si in white. The gold/yellow is hideous and the black just doesn't look right for some reason. I am sticking with my Civic until I get married in 2 years and then I am giving it to my wife and getting a new car. Leaning towards the WRX, but that could change.
