WRX
My friend just bought a Subaru WRX, absolutely NO flaws on the car's interior or exterior unlike my 2002 civic lx, the way a new car should be. It is fast too, but was expensive, $23,000.
If a turbo ever did come out for the Civic SI and it boosted the power by 70hp, you would end up paying total of what a WRX costs ($23000) for both the car and the turbo kit and still wouldn't have the all wheel drive which is awesome, so the WRX would smoke you in any cornering and traction, and you still would be fairly close in the hp rating. For the money, if you want a performance import, get the WRX. My friend says he'll never go back to front wheel drive car again.
Honda of the past was great, but Honda of today is just average. I would buy a used Honda made in Japan over any other used import out there, but these new ones just are not the same. I know because I've owned 2 new 7th gen civics and both of them had their problems. They are still good cars, but I think they are just about the same quality as your typical American car now. At least the couple that I bought.
Next time I'll look at a Toyota or a Subaru a little more closely, but I do love the way my Civic looks and its great gas mileage.

A WRX does have alot of flaws and it I repeat it cannot "smoke" alot of cars out there includeing front wheel drive cars!
The WRX have tranny problems and there gear ratios are so close together that WRX owners are getting fed up with there close gear ratio
a WRX has Low end power but lacks high end power
I bet if your "friend" were to race a RSX-S from 40mph or 60mph your friend will lose hands down
but if they were to race from a stop the wrx would own the rsx because of its AWD
my point is all cars have there flaws and that includes Subaru not just Honda
every car manufacturer out there flaws something it could be from anything from faulty air bags to shitty trannys

Defensive aren't we? It's fun to beat the hornets nest now and then.
I admit I'm a little peaved at Honda Civics right now, I just got back from my idiot dealer's service department.
I mentioned the WRX thing cause I get sick of everyone buying a brand new Civic SI or EX VTEC and wanting to stick a turbo on it, when for not too much more money, you can buy a WRX that is meant to be turbo'd and have more. The last time I looked (about 2 hours ago) an SI was selling for around 19K, add a 3K turbo and you are in WRX price range.
I also get tired of people bragging about how their civic's runs in the 16's, WHOOPTY DOO, not! The civic is not a sports car from the factory! you have to add stuff to it to make it go fast, and I don't care, high 16's and 17's is not fast.
If you are looking for fast ET's for the money, don't buy a civic. buy a civic if you are looking for a dependable, GREAT looking, good gas mileage, decent powered car
If you want ET's that are fun and affordable, do like a buddy of mine did (This is going to **** some of you off), go buy a used 5.0 mustang with 70K miles on it (it's hard to find one that isn't already ragged with low miles, but it is do able) for $6500, and bolt a $3000 vortech supercharger on it. MAN, it runs in the high 12's all day long, and gets 20 mpg on the interstate.
Civics are good for a lot of things, but it just takes too much money to make them "Fast and Furious"

we've heard it before...but people will do what they want to do. If youd like to look up more simply search for wrx or any other competitive car w/ a turbo.
