Impreza WRX or Acura RSX-TYPE S
I don't know guys its really hard to decide because i really like both cars
if i get RSX-S it wont take as long and i dont have to wait and save up
if i get Impreza WRX i would have to wait a lil longer
so which one would you guys pick???
the WRX dynos in at 190.5 and the Rsx-S dynos in at 175.6
can you guys give me some pros and cons about both cars???because i dont want to get a expensive machine then dislike it and not want to mod it
are there more aftermarket parts for the WRX or the RSX-S???
or are they in the same situation?
And one more thing NO im not going to get a used car and dump a sweet engine in it

I went throught this exact dabate with my dad. Right off the bat I'd say for the RSX-S. Because you can't really compare the 2 right off the bat. You have to think how much faster the RSX-S will be with a turbo put on it. Because with the price difference you coudl easily afford the turbo. The RSX-S also has a 6 spd whereas the WRX only has a 5. Now the thing is if you are going to drive your car in the winter or if you have snow, the AWD is great. It's also great for take off's. But there are definatly more mods for the RSX-S. All you really can do to the WRX is buy upgrades from the WRX STi (276 hp 275 lb/ft). The WRX STi is coming to North America next spring, so maybe you will want to conseider that, maybe not. But where the WRX is already tuned a nice bit I'd rather have the RSX-S because you could do a lot moer to it.
By the war after test driving the 2 cars my dad decided to go with the WRX. He just dosen't know if he wants to wait the for STi or not. Personally I like the RSX-S.... That redline is bad ***!!

ya what Bridge said I was gonna say, for me I like the two door look better than the sedan, think of your uses for the car. As for the hp don't worry too much about it cause both cars are great performers. Waiting another year for the Suburu or another 2-3 for for a type R RSX would be my advice so by that time you'll have enough $$$, but if you want a car right away think of what you're gonna be using it for. winter, cargo space, performance, features etc. the list goes on

Wow awseome thread. But for my needs right now such as collage and everything I think the WRX would suit me better because I need all that room since I am in college. but I cant resist that Type S. it looks so awesome with the OEM body kit and its redline, VTEC and its got the honda/acura reliability while we dont really know the WRX reliability since its only been on the market for a year. but who cares what i need i could never resist a Type S

Rsx-s...I love hondas and the integras and now the rsx will always be the sport compact kings if you ask me. There just isn't anything like like a dohc honda engine screaming it's lungs out. Plus, while others say the rsx interior is cheap and ugly, I think it is awesome. The wrx is nice but I just don't like the idea of turbos and long-term ownership.

i would go with the wrx, the greddy turbo gave the rsx 60hp, while the wrx, you can still get a bigger turbo for it, and the wrx engine is more easier on accepting bolt ons, while the rsx engine is more like our engine, godzillion bolt on gives it 10hp and i heard from someone around here that the rsx engine cylinder is shaped weird, thus no port polish.. or is that our engine?

Both have a slew of aftermarket performance upgrades. I say if your seriously considering either of those two then the price must not be a problem (well cept waitin a bit for the WRX). Just test drive both of em and whichever feels more comfortable should be your next car, i mean why drive something your gonna hate sittin in for more than 5 minutes?

Ok, let me try and break it down for you.
They are both great cars...the RSX sings to its 8 grand redline, while the WRX uses brute force to get up to speed. The WRX could be driven by anyone, it's an easy car to drive, thanks to its all-wheel drive. The RSX on the other hand is a little different, it requires you to drive it hard.
The WRX has WAY more parts then the RSX, but the RSX has more then enough parts for you to spend your money on.
The RSX has a WAY better interior then the WRX....go sit in a RSX Type S...then go sit in a WRX.
Umm, I guess that's all I have to say...you'll love either one. But I would go with teh RSX.

I have driven the RSX type S, not the WRX. But, from my experience I'm sold on the RSX. I love the interior. Hitting 80mph before even shifting into 5th is unbelievable(that's not even pushing it). And I was hauling a$$ on winding roads with no body lean at all, and even with the leather seats, I didn't slide an inch. That's awesome! If I had the money now, I'd have one in a second!!!

WRX... DUH!
not only is it faster out of the box, it can be made MUCH faster for WAY cheaper then the RSX, plus AWD baby. FWD blows *****.

also, think about this. to get anywhere NEAR the power a WRX can produce your going to need to turbo that WRX. and in order to do that.. with its 11:1 compression ratio n all, your going to have to pull appart the engine and swap out internals before you can add any boost. theres a real performance bargin for your hard earned money.
greddy DID manage to do this with stock internals, but the turbo cant go over a pithy 5.5 PSI. BAH

From what I hear a lot of WRX owners are complaining about their transmission. Just check out one of the wrx forums and you will see people talking about it.
Another for the WRX...wagon that is.

he means you'd need to turbo the rsx, and he's right. for that you need to drop the compression down do around 8.5:1 or 9:1 for best results. doing that you lose a LOT of the power you started with, now add the turbo. that's a lot of work to get small results. of course, you can bolt a big turbo to it, built it up like mad (also tons of money) and drive it THAT way, but you'd still have that nasty open diff problem.
mod for mod, the wrx beats the rsx out soundly. even when you take into consideration that once you hit 300+hp your tranny is living on borrowed time, that expense rivals the expense of a turbo kit for the rsx, and wrx frankly don't need much more than 300hp to take on a wide variety of cars.
well, y'all can have the rsx. just remember, peg-legged open-diff launches are your friend. thank you for choosing (in such high numbers) the slower, less nimble car. i'll see you guys on the mountain, in my wagon, passing rsx's
One of my best friends has a WRX and it is absolutely the best car on the road. Okay, its a little more in price but its worth it. He has made only 8 or 9 small modifications (racing exhaust, boost control, intake, underdrive pulley kit, and a few more that i cant remember) and is pushin 350hp, 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, and runnin high 11's in the 1/4 mile. I had the opportunity to drive both of these cars, my friends and a stock RSX-S and the WRX blows the Acura out of the water. And nothing is better thn AWD.
bullshit, either that or your friend is pushing a LOT more than that. 350 on stock turbo... no way. i hope you aren't including any n2o in they "dyno" number. 350 is where you buy a new turbo. please tell me you guys didn't push the stock turbo to 18psi+ either. especially if you are using an mbc. egt's go sky high that way, and you kill the turbo in the process as well.
i guarantee you that he's pushing a new turbo, sti injectors most likely, suspension mods, probably a vf22 or similar turbo, and some other goodies. the stock td04 turbo is simply too small to make good top end power, and anything past 16psi on it simply beyond the turbo's capabilities. the housing is too small to see real gains.
at the very least your friend is running a boost controller, new turbo, hopefully full exhaust (any less than up pipe + turbo back is just STUPID at 350hp).
whatever.

does anyone even need to ask with jsmonet drives?
i think sport compact car did a comparison between the rsx type s and wrx, and in the end they said it all depends on ur taste in cars although they were leanin towards the wrx.
if i had to pick between the two, i would get the wrx cuz of the awd and greater power
if i had the option, i'd wait for lancer evo 7 hehehe

SCC and all the other "tuner" mags wont bad mouth a car. they might point out stuff they like better on other cars, but even if there is a clear victor they cant just come out and say "that thing is a POS when you put it beside X car" due to the fact that they get all their funding from advertising for said cars. IE dont trust everything you read.
i've got a wrx myself. it's very sweet. i like how well it handles and the power that i have at my toe tips. but i can't really compair the two since i've never gotten to have fun with the rsx-s.
my friend just got a wrx, but its an automatic. apparently he just likes the looks and style but doesnt wana race .. hehe its a nice car tho
hes weird dont mind him
i'd get the wrx in manual over the rsx, if i had the money

Hey,
First, I would do some research on the web about both cars. Go to both forums ClubRSX and I-Club and get biased opinions from them.
Then, go to both dealerships, and test drive both. Do not get the car until you test drive both.
Then decide what suits you.
Remember, it all comes down to your decision.
