My Brother Bought A Tiburon
Yep, its true. My brother bought a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon. Its pretty cool looking I guess and it sounds nice, but I am waiting to see how long it lasts. I am going to see if I can take it for a spin some time tonight or over the weekend. He is only planning on keeping it for 2 years just so he can build up some credit. Honda did not want to finance him without a cosigner since he is only 18 and has no credit yey. Our bank would only give him $10,000 without a cosigner, so he was stuck with few options. He is going to pay off that loan in 2 years and then get a 2004 Civic. Not too bad I guess, but a Hyundai?

I like the look of the new Tiburon's but the older ones are a bit over done with the body styling.
Im not hating just an observation, but the good news is that hes going to go with a Honda in the long run.

Why didn't he just get a used 6th gen civic? Would have been a more sensible reliable choice, IMO.

Well even though its a Hyndai at least hes doing the right thing and building his credit up. Interest rates are sky high with a Co-Signer, plus he'll feel good about himself when he buys a new car on his own. Just don't let him beat the crap out of it because then it won't last.

He said it was like $8,000 plus tax, tag, title, and all that other crap. Not sure what the final price was. I am still wondering why he didn't get a 6th gen civic, but it is his money so I won't complain too much. Like I said, the car looks nice, but still, a Hyundai?
The front of the new Tiburon looks decent, but the back and side view looks terrible
Also I would never buy a Hyundai, it seems like the epitomy of economy cars
Just my 2 cents

I'm really open to all cars. I appreciate many different styles. But what the hell was the design team smoking when they did the original Tib... uhg. Now 2003 Tib, that is a way different story. That car is pretty sick!
My neighbor owned a 2001 I believe of that and he trashed it. Still I love the civics and the warranty on them is crazy but I guess you could keep it for awhile then sell it after the warranty is gone.

hyundai 2.0Lbeta motor (I-4) is actualy similar as 4G63 motor except for the turbocharged part..
hyundai is been basically using this motor 2.0L beta (140hp) in all tibs including the newer once so
aftermartket like turbos and superchargers are already available..they are very good engine..its
the tranny that really needs work..there also the smaller ones like the 1.8 motors which is weaker on older 1 gen tibs
As for the v6 i think there is already a supercharger out for them..
sorry im just bored

the tiburon is a good looking car, i would get it...people say that they cant last more the two years but come on they imporved alot and they are slowing making their way to america... u know u gotta start with the crappy cars first then slowly bring in the good ones.. they got 20 models in korea but they cant just bring all of them here right away and beside tey have a 40 year history and many of their automobiles have won awards in various countries.. the once tat dont make it here in america
