please help me with this amp
please help me with this amp
my brother bought me a bunch of audio stuff for my civic, and i have no clue what to do with some of it.
he got me a Alpine 4/3/2 channel power amplifier MRV-F307 and i have no clue what its good for.
1) what is this amp good for, how many watts and what not
2)i have alpine speakers, but no subs. can i use my amp for the speakers, or should i wait till i get some subs
for the most part i just need some help knowing what this thing is made for and what i should use it for
thanks
It's a Class A/B 4 X 30W @ 4hom amp. 4 channels(2 front, 2 rear), each at 30 watts, would work nicely to power your cabin speakers, after you replace them. It can also be bridged, to give you 2 X 80w. Keep in kind these are power ratings for a 12V input, your Civic will be closer to 13.8V, so expect a little more wattage, I'd say around 4 X 40W.
Depends on your definition of weak. That is a multi channel amp designed for small drivers, 4", 5", 6.5", etc. it's not a sub amp. It is a great amp, for use in its deigned application.
Calling it weak, is kind of like saying my lawn mower engine is weak. Sure, compared to engines designed to power a car, a lawn mower engine is no comparison. But, for the lawn mower, it's perfect. You wouldn't use a lawn mower engine in your Civic, would you? Don't use this amp to power subs.
