The auto-industry conspiracy is real. (Don't be naive)
I keep telling myself that even if I won 1 million dollars, I would still drive my 97 civic. (It was recently stolen and recovered) I say this because it's true.
No matter how much money I have, I still like middle-class the best. There is this misconception that the 92-2005 civics are "cheap" lower-end cars. No, they are small economic cars that are fun to drive with cozy and aesthetically pleasing styling that anyone would be comfortable in. (The earlier Toyota Corolla's and Ford Focus's are the same)
But now it's like... everything is "bruh-cars." Ding the ****ing energy drink cans while you play some shitty console game that has no depth. "You only live once bruh." So why the **** are you supporting shitty car designs? The designs are almost always egotistical and distorted in styling. I can walk into a Honda or Toyota dealership today with my wallet spilling out, but I will leave without buying anything no matter how sweet the deal is.
The Ford Focus's still look consistently good since 1998, but the interior of the new ones is weird and it's always BLACK instead of light grey, and even if tan is an option... light grey is still the proper color. They do this **** with the cars now where they assume that I want to have the "wealthy ****ing feel" by giving me these... pampering's; these twists and turns on the dash and interior that say, "you're sophisticated, and you're better than the middle-middle class car you drive." You dolt! You devil! I want a 2017 version of the 92-2005 civic! And I love middle-class the best!
But it's all intentional and by design. Who is doing it? The postmodernist deconstructionists. Why are they doing it? Because they hate us and they want us to have less-and-less, finally to press their boot onto our faces. People like Jeff Bezo's who owns Amazon.com is an example of this.
The car market is now in the dark ages, and the good designs ended somewhere in the 2000's with some exceptions. Everything is soul-less and disconnected from culture, which is a tactic used since Marxism of the 1800's to replace nationalism with dystopian socialism.
That's my conspiracy theory, and I'm sticking to it. Same thing is happening in Hollywood right now, but people are waking up to the fact that remakes of old movies are meant to destroy the original works, such as The Last Jedi, but with exceptions like 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).' The car market is trying to erase car history, just as the movie industry is trying to erase movie history.
Keep your old car, maintain it, invest in it, so that you boycott the new. Also, don't hesitate to support a good mechanic in your local area. Just because you know how to maintain your car, doesn't mean you should regret having a good mechanic do some work for you. (I'm not a mechanic btw)

the most recent purchase for me was a 95 Miata with no AC and no power anything, not even ABS
(a few years ago, though).

Good on it dude. But please don't ignore my points, because car-enthusiasts (the most) need to call out the auto industry. The auto industry take the concept art and make it worse, almost every time. It's not MORE expensive to make a nicer looking car.
