Conspiracy
Me and a couple of my friends where talking and wa have come to the conclusion that car makers purposly put low rate parts in there new cars. I think with the new popularity of import racing they have teamed up with big name parts makers and are getting a % of the profit. Even the better cars like the s2000 have shitty internals. But of all others the Civic is the worst. Withjout the add if I/E/H the car really sucks. Why don't the just come out and say it...." we made this car cheap so you could spend more money on other parts and we get the profit". If they would team up and put better internals and other stuff on the car they could get the parts at a fraction of the cost. I think they don't because if they could get it for $100 we get it for $350. Then both company's get profit. What a rip.
What do yall think. (and yes in Texas yall is a word)

Well...that is a good hypothesis...unfortunately it is not accurate. The Civic is built for one thing; economy. The fact that tuners started to tweak with the performance...that's why they built the Si. There are thousands of Civics out there (millions?) so it is no wonder they have so much aftermarket support, but lets face it. The Civic is an econobox. It is not fast nor was it intended to be. It is a inexpensive, economical car that is available to most if not all automobile consumers. If they built up the Civic, it would go up in price and knock them out of the < $15k crowd. So, I look at it as "Please do not put expensive parts on the Civic. I will do it later using my choice of manufacturers, parts and performance objectives." Now if there was a shop (ala AMG, Saleen, Dinan, etc.) that did factory authorized upgrades...perhaps a US Spoon Sports dealership...then you would have a place to buy the Civic you wanted, tuned the way you wanted it, and finance all of it instead of having to come up with the cash later. Problem is you have to see the big picture, not just from a tuner's perspective. Not all people want their Civic to do 12 sec 1/4s, or go from 0-60 in 4 seconds, or drive to work everyday in a 4 pt harness. They want a stylish, comfortable vehicle that is cheap on gas, insurance and maintenance costs. So Honda gave them that in the Civic. The fact that we try and make them perform like F1 cars is on us.
I sure wish my car was newer

I highly doubt Honda puts low quality parts on their cars because of a geniune love of aftermarket. They do it for a lower out of pocket price, and hopefully, higher profits.

I think your tinfoil hat is tuned wrong.
But seriously, Car companys are out for profit, their OWN profit. They dont give a damn about aftermarket, as long as the car sells they'll keep making it. They also want to Maximise their profit per car, so they use the cheepest parts they can (That reach their Quality standards) to build it. Less cost for production = less cost to consumer = More Cars sold = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I just hate the super thin *** sheet metal they use on our cars. Clever & cost effective, too. Who would even think a car would still sell so well with the most dingable of doors.
