I reset my SRS light - now what?
Greetings civicforum members:
I am just a "parts changing monkey," and no mechanic. Well, my airbag light was on and I flunked the inspection. I used the info on this forum to reset the light.
Thanks, guys! It was easy.
So it's off now, but I have an important safety question: By resetting the light, I'm assuming that if there were a problem with the air bags, the light would go back on. Is this correct? I recently had work done on my car from a slight front crash, and I think the mechanic forgot to reset the airbag switch, which is why it was on. Please let me know! Btw, I have a 2003 civic EX. It rocks. I want my inspection sticker ASAP, but I also don't want to be driving around with airbags that don't deploy. Thanks so much. Wow, is this forum ever valuable. The Honda place would have probably charged me a hundred bucks to do this.

Re: I reset my SRS light - now what?
take it to the dealer...they need to replace the SRS module if they haven't done so already...its part of a recall. and
on the SRS light DIY.
Re: I reset my SRS light - now what?
there is a yellow plug under the dash that has two wires going into it. the plug is plugged into an empty socket by the fuse pannel. take that plug out, place a jumper wire into the two holes connecting the two. turn the ignition key on.(lights on do not start) the srs light will go off, within 4 seconds, unplug one side of the jumper wire, when the srs light comes back on plug the jumper back in,(within 4 seconds) the light will blink twice and go out. unplug the jumper and turn the ignition key off. wait 15 secongs, then start your car. the memory will be reset. replace the plug and you're set. i am an ase certified mechanic and can't believe that we have a forum that noone will share this information on. what is this place for anyway?. sorry you had to go through this. but i feel that " Buy a scan tool " is the most stupidest responce. if i wanted to spend $900.00 on a tool, i'd pay the $200.00 to have the dealer do it. my goodness.

I brought it in to the dealership 2 years ago when the SRS light lit. They figured out that was the defective seat belt buckle. They changed that free of charge because it is under lifetime warranty.
