If you think there is a problem putting a Civic headlight in the oven, by all means DON'T DO IT! If you fear that 250 degrees will destroy an inanimate object made out of plastic for just 7 puny minutes, DON'T DO IT! Guess what? I learned this proceedure HERE ON THE FORUMS and that was last year. When people had problems opening their headlights, I read up on it, and there wasn't just one person who agreed with it! A number of people did! Why are you telling people not to do something you've never done before? No offense, but you're just as simple-minded as FuturisticCivic, but without the ignorance!
I don't care what his status is! He's got no proof it doesn't work! Where's my proof? aZnVoYCe and a lot of other members among these forums! I'm not saying that if you put your headlight in the oven, you're not gonna destroy it! You obviously can! That thing sure looks like an oven, right?! NO MORE THAN 7 or 8 MINUTES! If you leave it in there for 10+ your headlight will start to melt! There is your precaution for this method! End of story!

Since when are North American Civic sedans made in Japan? How about Ontario, Canada and Ohio, USA?

You both are correct. Hey, P! Vic's old headlight is still in my room... it says, "Assembled in Mexico." Don't worry, it's all good.

New headlight = $224 from dealer... that's with tax added.

You can get it a lil' cheaper off the Internet. It's probably best to get it off the internet money-wise unless you need a headlight immediately. Some dealers might have them in stock.

dude tha is the best 4 door I've seen so far.
Is not easy to do the headlights.
You'll need a profesional heat gun for the job.
(The kind the window tinting guys use)
Do one side keep heating the edges till it comes apart.
Try not to touch the inside of the headlight and the plastic cover to much or it will get marks and grease spots.
And to put them back together make sure you do the same and heat the plastic glue as you put the plexi back on or else you will get water when it rains or when you wash you car.
Clear silicon is a good thing to use to seal it.
I have my set of head lights new, if you want I'll clear them and sell them to you a lot cheaper than the dealer.

There's just one problem, Supermex... coupe's headlights won't fit a sedan's and vice/versa. They are different sized headlights. You might be a lil' surprised overall how different the sedan is from the coupe. There are hella lil' things that may seem the same but aren't. The headlights are one of them.

However, I am seriously looking for a new set of headlights and I'll take yours. You don't have to clear them for me. I'll PM you about it.

Decamo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I just cleared my headlights yesterday. I agree, the DIY needs to be updated as there are steps missing. The headlight is easily taken apart with a heat gun.
The only problem I ran into is removing the chrome part without getting the black sticky glue on it. I had an idea that if you have the headlight taken apart and then you stick the lenses in the freezer it would probably make the glue less sticky so you can get the chrome part out without getting glue on it. Too late for me though. Someone should try this.

After putting heat to the headlight, I dunno if it'll be a good idea to freeze it...

Removing the chrome insert can be THE HARDEST part of clearing headlights (otherwise, it's not that hard at all)... also the most annoying part because it takes so long getting that black stuff off. You might just end up having to touch the chrome insert and bending it a bit to avoid the black tarry silicone sealant that's used to originally seal it. Just use a towel to wipe it off and don't make it messy. Wiping too hard can scratch the chrome insert. I heard you can use WD-40 but I haven't ever had to chance to use that to remove it.

After the headlight is opened, some people will remove the black sealant. I just don't touch it at all. I try my best to avoid it. It's so sticky, it can still be used again with the clear silicone you'll use to reseal the headlight. That stuff practically NEVER gets hard or dry. It's really like a tar... so I make use of it.

I dunno about the sedan's gray sealant. I've seen it before and it gets hard when dried. I heard it's more like gum when the sealant to the coupe's headlight is more like taffy.
