Geez...an arrest, an impound and a $950 fine all for doing 60 in a 25? Where are you from? I sit on a major road thats a 25 zone and catch people doing double that frequently. I don't even have the legal authority to impound a car unless the driver is unlicensed, uninsured, unregistered or the driver committed a crime. $950 is way too excessive for 60 in a 25...If I wrote someone for 60 in a 25 the fine would be somewhere in the 150's neighborhood at the max.

Maybe in Florida?? Tickets are way expensive in FL, nothing compared to the rest of the U.S. A $250+ ticket is no abnormal here. Florida doesn't have a State Tax so they make up for it in tickets among other things.

I live in Washington. I think the reason it was so harsh is because they were on an old road that nobody drives on and they were racing. When everyone saw the cop they all took off. They weren't running from the cop, they were just leaving, but when he turned on his lights, he pulled over. The cop probably knew they were racing but could only get him in trouble for speeding. But still, $950 is a bit much. He's only 17 too. I was surprised they actually arrested him and took him to the station.

Yo, I feel ya! I got a ticket a month ago for doing i think 50 on a 35. . . . I was hella late for school! I didn't even see a cop behind me and I had no radar soo I only use my eyes! . . but anyways. . he pulled right next to me on a stop light. When it turned green I went, he came up front. . looked left and then went behind to pull me over. He said I was speeding but would let me off with a warning. . . I THOUGHT I was set free! BUT, he then says I didn't have a license plate in the front of the car soo he gave me a fix it ticket! I dind't have to show up to court he said. . but a few weeks later I got a letter saying it was a mistake and I DO have to go to court! MAN! i was racing this jetta on night around 2 AM. We kept hitting street lights and kept having to stop, until i noticed that we had a long straight away coming up after the next red light. We both lined up and it went green, off we go. I burned the doors off that kid but when i looked in my rear view i saw blue lights behind him! I have no idea how fast we were going, i was just trying to stay ahead of the jetta. When I saw the cop i pulled over right away and the jetta fled the scene with the cop on his heels. Another cop/K-9 pulled me and pulled me out of my car, cuffed me and made me wait for a transport to come get me. I spent 5 hours in jail until i could get bailed out, $5o, not bad huh?. When i went to court to pay the $350 fine for reckless driving and recieve my 6 points, the judge asked me if i payed bail, i answered yes and he said "NOT GUILTY" and i was free to go![IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] Talk about a stroke of luck!

yea going 120 was very stupid ive only done that twice, one was with my friend in his protege to test out some new engine mods and it was done on a wide open road out in the middle of kansas the second was on a local free way that was straight for 20 miles and there was no traffic. in my own car that only reached 110. it was pretty scary and i have to say im not going to go that fast again!! right now sometimes i speed but i go about 70 or 80 but nothing over that since ive gotten 4 speeding tickets and next one i get my lisencse taken away. but going 120 can get people killed and get you in jail.

when i was in hs, my friends and i were going to NC. we got pulled for doing 75 in a 70 zone. the cop had us stand out in the 90+ heat for ~3hrs while we waited for the dogs to come and smell our car. one of my friends passed out from the heat and fell on a cop. they beat the crap out of him and we all ended up spending overnight in the hospital. we later sued and ended up with 3g's/person.
