Got arrested speeding
Sleeper - did they actually take you in, or did you just get fined and let go. Usually, at least in Texas, you don't get taken to jail unless you were sited for over 100 mph and blatelently reckless. Most of the time they will just write it up as under 100, unless you tick them off. Good luck with court and if your still on those crappy stock firestones, get some good rubber for the road!

Jus a ticket but I was arrested and he said I could go to jail but I was real nice to him and he even took off the cuffs 30secs after he put em on. But said this "Im not going to put you in jail and set out a 100dollar bond" He was a pretty nice guy.
Alright flame me if this has been discussed in this thread, I skipped 2 pages because there were a lot of posts.
The main reason we're supposed to have speed limits here is because when people go faster, they cannot control their car and have accidents. I believe that the main reason is profit. The city and the state make a whole lot of cash money from it and they can't bare to lose that.
Take the example of Germany. Over there you have to be 18 to drive. You have to pay around $2000 which includes one year of mandatory school. Why do you think they don't have speed limits most of the time on those autobahns? It's because people can handle the speed and know when they can go fast.
America's training for driving is a joke. Here in IL I went through 1 month and a half of driver's ed. I then went to "range" where I learned how to drive. You know what that was, it was me driving 5 miles an hour in a parking lot in a circle. How are you going to learn driving just from that. I had two "traffic" teachings which meant that I was now graded on how I drove on the roads. Now it's good that my parents taught me how to drive in other parking lots and with the learner's permit, but I basically learned nothing in the actual driving section.
Now I'm not saying that he should be speeding or going on shoulder, that's just wrong. However, all of us know that there are times when the highway has no on it, there are no potholes, and we are not endangering anyone. Yet we are required to 55 or 65.
There should be no speed limits or higher speed limits, but people should learn how to drive at those speeds and when to drive at those speeds. Driver education really needs to take a cue from Germany. The reason we have so many bad drivers is because of what is "driver education."

I have to say if there is going to be one thing I am going to miss when I come home from Germany is the AutoBahn. The industry of revenue from speeding tickets makes me sick to my stomach. Don't get me wrong, I believe there should be speed limits in housing, shopping school districts ect... But deserted highways, interstates and such, well nevermind no use arguing it... the goverment is going to get theres one way or another.
Hey sleeper:
Is this you??
Robert M. B***, 18, 14003 ****** Oak, Lockport, was cited at 11:51 p.m. at Pheasant Lane and Holm Drive for reckless driving. I omited information for your personal reasons. But this is in your neighborhood the same night that you posted your original post and this person was 18, as you are. I just thought I'd do some investigating to find out the real story of your arrest. After all, I can so I will. There were also a couple other people in the general area that were arrested for reckless driving, however this is the only one that seemed to fit your situation.

Yeah Kevin I dont mind as long as u say wha is true as a law enforcer you should read things clearly and also reply correctly.
and no it is not. Lockport is only like 10mins from Orland Park but they dont have freeways. It was 10:20 I believe on 294 east. The ramp that he got me was going to Kedzie Ave in Homewood Flossmore (I dont kno if thas the right spellin for flossmore, but im pretty sure.) Yea I am 18 and the ticket sated too fast for conditions even tho me and him were basically the only ones out and it was a perfect clear night. That was it basically. It's kinda funy someone out there is tryin to look up my shizzle, have fun, my first name is Lou...thas a hint.
Yea Snowman I totally agree. I wouldnt stand going 55 on an open road with a clear sky.
QCKSILVR- do u have an AIM account? I would like to ask u questions but not like post-by-post.

Kevin, you went on the internet to find that out or is there a police database you have access to?? If it's open to the public a link would be nice
As for me, I only go 90 or so (in a 70) late at night on smooth straight highways with no traffic (usually very early in the morning) Pulling that kind of crap with anyone else at risk is just plain stupid. Expecially with no training in high speed driving and with stock suspension/tires!! And don't forget that even with a deserted road, you could always hit debris or a deer and wrap your car around a tree.
The tree always wins.
edit: this was not directed at anyone in particular!

110 and 120 is basically identical, 110 feels the same as 130 too. I dont understand the issue between 10mph when ur going that fast anyways.
Mitchman- I feel for ya, u got caught 4mph more than me. Did ur insurance find out? I sure hope not. Wha was ur punishment besides the huge fine?

I've got no problems with going fast, I've bounced off the speed limiter of my Focus (108) on several occasions and once had my old Escort GT up to 130 but always this was on a completely deserted road.
When you said "went on the shoulder" to avoid some cars you lost any an all support and sympathy from me. As soon as you saw any cars coming up you should have shut down. You never know what other cars are going to do when they see another car coming up in their rear view going 50Mph faster than they are, you never know if there was debris on that shoulder that would blow your tire or whatever.
You got off lucky IMHO.

1. I was once 18 and stupid. You are not ignorant, you just ignore the facts.
2. I once hit a large welding tank on the freeway. It was just laying there in my way. At 55 it totaled my Prelude.
3. You were driving 120 miles per hour and passed 3 cars in an erratic manner. You need to go to traffic school so you at least understand what laws you are breaking.
4. Someday, it will all catch up to you. You will be lucky that it is only the insurance raping you will suffer. Your Kharma is basically screwed.
5. At last count, I have 5 friends who are now dead to speed related accidents. In one year I went to 3 funerals and could cry no more. Imagine one day looking down at your best friend in a metal casket. Now realize you put him there and you are driving a wheel chair now. You will live with that forever and that chair will be a constant reminder. My friend Mike cannot take enough drugs or drink enough to ever forget what he did. Will you?
6. No imagine that your fiance is in that coffin. Realize that the moron who put her there is at the funeral trying to say he is sorry. Remember the 5 relatives who had to restrain you from committing murder. I did not give a rat's !@# that he was just having fun and he was sorry. My Leah was dead. She always will be. I get to live with that for the rest of my life.
7. I read your post and was livid. I could care less how you try to justify what you did. But you did the crime, now do your time. Quit wasting my time trying to say you are being picked or harassed. Statistics do not lie. You are giving imports a bad name. I am ashamed to be even closely linked to you. Control is an illusion. You never actually control your car. Go to college, learn some science and quit talking out your butt. I once lost control of my car going 65 and did three 360's. Was I in control of anything. Nope, only God and luck saved my life that day.
8. Flame me, curse me, talk crap all you want. When or if you reach maturity, you will understand all the crazy stuff you did and thank God that no one was hurt.

120mph is insane, you dont know whats ahead of you laying on the road, or about to run across the road in front of you. hit a little animal at that speed and you could very easily lose control of your car. and "aiming for the center guard rail" isnt going to be possible, your car is going to go where it wants to and youll have no control whatsoever over that.
phew!...9 pages of posting has just been read by me and here's what I have to share:
I have done 122mph at the most in my civic, coming down a bridge. I am almost positive there were no other cars in my way or near me. I had to stop shortly after to make a turn. I feel sorry for my breaks.
I have done 100-110 passing cars on a 4-lane highway(2 lanes of traffic going north, 2 goin south). It is stupid, but when I'm late for work, its something that I do.
As for Lou, I dont see it wrong that you took the shoulder to avoid those cars, because if you didnt, you could have hit one, or lost control by slamming on the brakes and making the car turn sideways.
Another thing for Lou, I thought that I had complete control over my car too, and that I would never lose control due to speed or road factors. But guess what, one morning, I was going to school. It was raining, and I was doing between 70-80mph. I hit a little spot of water on the road. Instantly, the car turned sideways and I was spinning around. I had no chance to stop it from losing control. It did a 360 on the road(same 4-lane as mentioned earlier), then went into the median and did a 180, then, as I was entering the oncoming traffic lane, I pulled the parking break and turned the wheel in the opposite direction. The car dragged backwards to a stop and I was ok. Luckily, there were no other cars coming in the oncoming lane, or they would have smoked my car and I would have been hurt. Yes, I had both hands on the wheel and had my seatbelt on.
My friend was driving his accord on the same highway and he was doing 130, by the way, that highway's speed limit is 65mph. He hit a pothole and instantly lost control. He ended up doing 2 360's and coming to a stop by pulling his parking break and turning the wheel.(seems like this works over and over..lol) He wasnt hurt and no other cars were involved. But his engine does make a new noise now and the steering isn't the same.
What I'm trying to tell you is that you CAN in fact lose control. Dont think that you cant! I was the same way untill it happened to me, and now I'm scared to drive fast in the rain.
I just say be safe, noone wants u hurt and definately noone hurt by u cause of ur actions. Im curious bout u goin to jail for a year, my friend got nailed in New Orleans doin 120 in a 55 in his prelude and he got arrested and spent the night in jail but that was it. Paid a fine and minor other things but he was never threatened with a year in jail."
What color is your friend's prelude, I think some of my friends know him. If its the same guy, he has, well has, nitrous and burnt his engine.

SilverCivic2K1, thanks for sharin, but cuz high speeds is all I do basically, it's wha I can do real well. Im not sayin Im gonna have control all the time but I've never lost control even when I was 16 going 140 in my uncle's car. Yeah, in the back of my head I say it is very dangerous and it's dman scary, but I guess thas y I love it so much. Im not out there to hurt anyone. You guys tell a lot of sappy stories and I feel sorry for ya'll and makes me think wha the difference between going at high speeds and doing other things wrong on the road. I dont kno y this thread is hittin so hard, maybe cuz im 18, maybe cuz 96mph is over rated in some eyes; I honestly don't kno.
But I guess u can say then u shouldnt speed period...correct? 20mph in a subdivision... goin 30 in the sub. is pratically the ratio I got caught with going on an open road with no kids. But then again you can say "30 is nuttin compared to 96", thas where it gets hypicritical and issues start, cuz speeding is speeding. 30mph u can lose control, and 96 u can lose control, but if I lose control, it'll be in a wide open road wit very few cars and when there are cars hell yea I slow down to 60, thas how I pass them up on the shoulder and go right back up. Heres another thing, I am going 100mph at a constant velocity. When you street race you go from 0-?? in whatever time thas 100% MORE DANGEROUS, look at the picture not the number guys. Y don't u tell me stories about lil kids/pets gettin hit by ppl going 30 on a 20 in a subdivision, I can easily start it off. But my point here is a lot of things are dangerous, high speeds, no doubt. I guess ur lookin after me and all thas cool.
bottom line,
Some ppl say going 100mph is retarded.
Some ppl say streetracing on public streets is retarded.
Some ppl say dont speed in subdivisions cuz thas retarded.
Some ppl say use turn signals cuz if u don't, u'll prolly hit my sister again, is retarded.
In whatever case, it's all dangerous and if u do some of these 'retarded' things and more, be careful and watch out for everyone out there, we are not in control all the time, and we do understand that, so all I can say is be careful, cuz hey, Im not out there to hurt anyone and neither are u hopefully. Thas all I can say really. You can dog me out all you want and tell me I should die or whatever ppl said over the 9 pages. But bottom line, in our high performance cars
, be careful.

96mph is what you got caught at, people here are talking about the 120mph you didnt get caught at. 100mph is bad enough, but 20% more than that is crazy. thats not like going 30 in a 20, thats more like going almost 45 in a 20

Now that's an oxymoron, I don't think that there are too many peopl that would consider our cars "high performance"

man, you guys should feel lucky. The other day my boyfriend got pulled over for doing 60 in a 25. He got arrested. they towed his car. And he got a $950 dollar ticket and a court date.
