Got arrested speeding
Goin to my cousins on a freeway (55mph zone) i was hittin like 120s goin on shoulders havin a good time. I jus got off a long day at school and work and I felt like speeding around 10:30pm. I pulled into a ramp and then I saw him coming in close behind me. Told me he caught me 96mph but he knew I was goin well above that, my radar detector didnt pick it up as fast cuz he didnt have the gun on...he jus triggered me when he saw me pass him. And no I did not even see him, U dont see much goin that fast. He told me to get out of my car and he told me to lay down and put my hands behind my back. Im 18 year old asain with a civic; he had to call back-up. Gave me a ticket and a court date.... Aww well sux. He said most i could get is 1yr in jail..but thas prolly not gonna happen.
Thanks for listenin...i needed to vent.

having a long day at school and work doesn't qualify as a reason for going that fast. just plain ignorant doing that type of speed--->we all have bad days bro but your way of venting could have ended up killing somebody on the road, maybe me, maybe somebody i know, or maybe somebody in this forum. your decision to go that fast could have f***ed up your life more than a speeding ticket, reckless driving is a bad way to lose somebody you knew in high school; from personal experience
You know what's really gonna suck?? Wait until you insurance finds out that you got popped for reckless driving. And by the way, to be technical you didn't get arrested for "speeding" Speeding, itself is not a crime (no its not against the LAW). However, you stepped up to the level of Reckless Driving which is, knowingly putting yourself and others in danger. You said you were on the shoulder or the road. I assume that is because there were other cars on the road, not a smart idea. And you said that you are 18 right? Good way to start out your criminal record. Your lucky he didn't slap you in the back of his car and haul you in. Not a very smart idea. And you wonder people who fix up their imports have a bad rap. Its because stupid and senseless acts like you demonstrated tonight. I feel for you and hate to say it, but I'm glad you got busted. That cop probably saved your life and someone elses. TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!! That's why its there.

You forgot to say, "Just my $.02." lol j/k
Insurance is gonna suck for you... I hate to say it, but you also may end up getting kicked off of it for going that fast and getting caught... that also could mean finding another insurance company would be hard cuz what insurance company would want someone driving that fast?
Yeah, at least you get to live to see 25 (I hope... insurance break!)

Jon i totally disagree with you. it was an open road basically. Theres a difference between wreckless driving and speeding. I was basically on the same lane the whole time except when 3 cars blocked all lanes I wanted to go on the shoulder. Wreckless driving is when the driver seems like he doesnt even care for himself not to mention others. Speeding is going really fast. I dont lose control ever under high speeds cuz I jus like to cruise at high speeds... how could u not love that, it's seriously an awesome enjoyable time. even when I've gone 140s before (not in the civic of course) I would jus cruise in the open road. People out there street race when u see a nasty riced cavalier at a red light...I like to cruise at high speeds... I seriously dont think it's harmful at all, theres no way Im gonna stop this, whats the problem anyway? Open road, both hands on the wheel... am I jus gonna slip off the wheel in the open straight-a-way? it maynot not the smartest thing to do, but its certainly better than doin doughnuts on ice, streetracing or speeding anywhere besides an open road freeway.
<< he was only going 120, not 200. i'm sure alot of people have hit that mark before. (i have yet to hit it, only hit 100 so far). on trips to vegas(from LA) grandma's even hit 120 >>
Either way, going over 100 can equal up to your license being suspended for a year or so... probably more. It's not that he hit that mark, it's just that he got caught doing it and has to face the consequences. Sorry, man. You'd have better luck doing it at 2-3am on a big 6-lane deserted highway. I hear generally cops don't care if you speed on a freeway no one is really on.
And if you follow what I just said, and you still get pulled, I'm not liable for your ticket, insurance, jail time, car impounded, etc.
I beg to differ with you. "ONLY GOING 120" WTF are you smoking? I have never seen any "Grandma's" doing 120 down the interstate. Are you aware of how fast that really is? There is absolutely no justifiable reason to go 120mph on any public street. It dangerous and downright stupid. I hope you enjoy paying high insurance rates, its people like you who make mine higher and for that I'd like for you to kiss my If something where to happen at the rate of speed, you can pretty much kiss your life goodbye. A flat, something in the road, or even a small pot hole can send you flying into the trees or across to oncoming traffic. If you want to kill yourself fine, but leave the rest of us out of it. We have just as much right to the highways as everyone else. Think about who your endangering. How would you feel if you cause some lady and her 1 year old kid to die because you were "only doing 120"

Kevin ur a moron, and anyone else who thinks insurance is gonna "take a bite out of my ***" is one too. Insurance doesnt even get contacted. It'll be under license supervision for 3-6months. I would think I kno the drill. And Kevin, I wasnt streetracing dumbsh!t. I dont even street race or go over the speed limit at all on local. I like to put it on cruise control at high speeds. "take it to the tracks?" "ppl like me give imports a bad rap?" - are u friggin kiddin me, jus cuz I go fast on the open freeway i give imports bad names and i need to take my car to the tracks like i drag wit my civic. U seriously need to watch ur mouth next time before u say sumptin u have no idea about, I cant wait to hear wha ur noob mouth has to say next.
Speeding is totally fine as long as no one else is around or in ur car on an open road. Am I puttin my head out the window or sumptin. Speeding is over rated and theres no way I will ever get into an accident, 96mph on an open road isnt really dangerous, unless ur weaving wit a lot of cars.

I'm sorry for making so many posts, but I can't just NOT respond. What in the hell are you talking about saying What's the problem anyway? You state with both hands on the wheel, your not just gonna loose control. You are so misinformed. If your doing 120 and so much as hit a pot hole, YES the force is going to cause that steering wheel to yank out of your hand. I don't care how good of a hold you think you have. That car is going to go whereever the hell it wants to go, and you can't do a damn thing about it. And then you ask, how is that different then someone street racing... IT ISN'T YOU FOOL!! Ever heard the saying 2 wrongs don't make a right. And then you ask how is it different then doing doughnuts? Again it isn't. However, doing doghnuts it done at a fairly low speed and hitting something wouldn't be nearly as tragic as doing 120. Basically, what it comes down to is if the slighest thing happend at that speed, your a dead man. I just hope you only kill yourself!
i tell ya this everyone is in tha need for speed sometime and speeding at nite its a no no u kant see nothing like them pigs so next time u r in tha urge for speed do it on day time and hell no u aint fina go to jail pigs bluffing fat fines though peace...........

Oh Gosh! Get off the guys back. He's young and likes to haul ***. I passed many of people on the shoulder when I was younger. 120 and the car is going to go out of control if a pot hole is hit...LOL I have had all my cars up to and a good bit over that speed and a pothole isn't going to make you lose control...lol...obviously someone has little ***** and has broken the barrier yet. Bottom line, we all know we shouldn't drive that fast, we all know what's at stake. So, if you do it, be prepared to pay the consequences. Hit a pothole and lose control..LMAO
lol, I didn't say insurance was gonna get contacted, but that doesn't mean that they can't find out.
Here's my opinion.
Speed kills. The fast you go, the harder it is to slow down. There are laws against speeding and you broke it. Obviously there is something wrong with speeding towards the law, which you can do nothing about if they catch you... and you should know that. Speeding on an open freeway at that speed doesn't guarantee you a safe thrill BY YOURSELF. Of course I know you wouldn't want to harm others by speeding, but what about yourself? At certain speeds, you have control of the car in a Civic... going over 120, the car has more control of you... you're not going that fast, the car is. With you in the car, it's stupid. Because you got caught and you're responsible for the car going that fast where the law forbids it... you were wrong. You did what you did, and the law reacted naturally. Like I said earlier... you got f'cked.

Okay...first off, doing anything over 100mph doesn't mean you are in control. Speed limits are there for a reason. Three 16year old kids died in my city because they were speeding at 75mph in a 35mph zone. The reason it's 35mph is because at the end of the stretch there is a 90 degree right angle turn which can only be made at 35mph safely. Well the kids didn't realize it until it was too late. They ended up jumping the sidewalk and crashing into a brick wall which caused the car to explode into flames. I don't know if they all died instantly, but I hope they did otherwise they would have burned to death.
Dude, your lucky you got off with just a ticket. You could have lost your life just like these kids or even worse, take the life of an innocent bystander. I hope what i'm saying to you sinks in because, I've been in the import/race seen since 1994 and I've done stupid things which I regret. Luckily for me I never took anyone's life and if I did, I could never forgive myself for that.
I am older now and wiser. I'm hoping I can get through to you so that you will not become a statistic. Just to let you know, there was a member on this site that was speeding as well. He ended up losing control, crossing the center divider and going head on with another vehicle at 75mph. He lived, but the person in the other vehicle died. In my book, he deserved manslaughter charges, but he got off easy. I hop you don't make the same mistake twice.

Hey,
Dang, first thing... Going 120 mph onto the shoulder passing three cars is wreckless driving. Lets say one of the car is going 80mph, you are nearly going 1/2 (in theory) faster then him.
I don't know about you, but when I am going around 80mph, and I see somebody fly by me going around 120mph, that sucker is hard as hell to tell where it came from. Its that fast.
You are still breaking the law and its not a little pitty pat where the cops were being ******, they had to give you a ticket. Going 120mph is not the norm.
With that said, someone made the statement of " I just hope your the only one that kills yourself"
C'mon what kinda of comment is that? Its wreckless and immature but its not like he is driving drunk. Or more wreckless, like weaving. To me somebody going 80mph weaving through traffic, and the other cars are going 65mph, to me thats more dangerous.
At any-rate, its immature driving and stated he would drive like that again. Do what you got to do, but be considerate upon your consequences, because while a pot-hole won't make you go out of control (what kinda comment was that), something else very bad can happen.
Just be careful man, you do not own the road.

Dude, can't you see that many of the members here disagree with you? Do you honestly think that you did nothing wrong and that speeding at 120mph isn't that bad?
It's going to take a hard lesson for you to realize how severe this is. I just hope you don't take anyone else with you.

They were driving an Integ, too!
If they were driving a 7th gen Civic (hint-hint), damn... one of us. Please allow me to clarify my comments a little bit. What I meant by saying "I only hope you only kill yourself", as insensitive as it may seem, is pretty much how I feel. By no means at all do I hope that he kills himself. What I meant was, in the event that something were to happen and he was to get in an accident while he was doing 120mph on the highway. I hope that nobody except for himself has to suffer from his actions. As far as hitting a pothole doing 120 will cause nothing to happen. Have you ever hit a pothole doing 40? I'm wasn't referring to a small bump in the road, but rather a true pothole. I've hit potholes doing 40mph that have blown out a tire and bent my rim. I don't care to try that at a high rate of speed. My general point was that at 120mph you are not in true control of your car. Sure, we've all done stupid things. But risking our own lives is an entirely situation thing the risking the lives of others.

i admit i go pretty fast too, not as fast as 120 but usually 90. this is while i'm switching lanes 24/7. i try to remind myself that it only takes one lil mistake for my life to be taken away but yet for some reason i have the urge to go fast.

If you re-read my post you would notice at the very beginning...
<< Dang, first thing... Going 120 mph onto the shoulder passing three cars is wreckless driving >>
Now put into the context of what I said was in regards to your comment " "I only hope you only kill yourself"
That is assuming he gets into an accident, but why "kill yourself" wouldn't it make more sense to say "I hope you only end up *hurting* yourself" the wording you use is rather harsh.
Which, I replied into saying basically he really doesn't desever that kinda of statement, when you have other people driving more wreckless and dangerous ala drunk driving.
Again, he was driving wreckless and dangerous, but there are other drivers that are worst. Going 100mph or more is quite often where I drive highways 14, open desert, and if your in the left 2 lanes your *** better be going at least 90.
That doesn't justify going 120, and again he deserves a ticket, maybe a suspended license.
Ray
