Personally I'd pick the ridgeline. But for a first car... I'd think of something else. Maybe the element being its his first car, easier to handle then a huge truck in a parkinglot. But why not talk him into a 7th gen- you see what people are doing- biting at 400hp w/ the D17. Depends on what kinda guy he is though- how about a rav 4
Honestly, I like their sport edition one- the vent in the front for who knows what- its a clean compact suv.
Looks like hes looking for an SUV- so i'll ignore all the great cars on the market. CRV, Element, RAV4.. and some other ones if you consider outside of Honda and Toyota. CRV lacks style, the interior feels super dated to me- allthough I cant recall the recent 2 years models. Element if kinda far fetched in style- I'm not really a fan of the gray side panels. I've seen people paint it up (http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/...041019/e40.jpg) which makes it look like a whole new car thats a few thousand bucks more. I really like that. Even has room under the rear seats so he could throw some amps or slim line subs under there if he becomes an audio guy.
All in all, for a first car- I'd buy a 7th gen. For a first vehicle, I'd buy a element. For a first truck, I'd buy the ridgeline, but I dont think i'm ready to give up some street glory for a rugged four wheel mountian bike quite yet.
Oh!! hands down- I'd pick the Toyota FJ cruiser (http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/galle.../FJC-Black.jpg) It might be tough to move around in at first- but thoes things have lots of potential if you look at the right, and they have a really unique styling that some love, and others hate. All up to your friend. Also, scion TC is just a sick car.
Thoes are my picks. Let me know what he thinks, and what he decides on.

im sorry....that FJ is a pile. just like the new hummers. Those vehicles came from vehicles that were known for being some of the most badass oem vehicles out....now they have this new retro bullshit. I dunno. just my .02.
