dude the 112 is the power to the wheels while the 127 is power at the flywheel, its like that for every car. look at the others the rsx has 200hp but only makes 157 power to the wheels.

we lose about maybe 10-15 hp going from the engine to the wheels... but the RSX loses like 50? thats crazy.. where is all the power being restricted at ? is this why the RSX is so responisve to mods?

even so if its just a 30HP loss... does that mean that our car is more efficient in gettin the power from the engine to the wheels? is this why mods dont really give more power becuase most of the power the engine can naturally produce is already going to the wheels?

IMO bolt-ons aren't doing much for us because honda made a nice little efficient engine and then made a decent intake, header, and exhaust to get a little extra power out the mill. This is especially true on the ex models.

When looking at power lossed through the drivetrain between different cars, it is probably better to compare the percentage of hp lost not the hp directly.

in two-wheel drive cars you loose about 15% hp from engine to the wheels, so do the math, what do you mean you only now you only have 112 hp, that's what you always had......what's the big deal, if everyone looses it, then our numbers remain relatively the same.....it would be better if the auto manufacturers published the hp #s as wheel hp.......

agreed. The Sentra Spec V loses ~35hp-140 at the wheels.

hey, since you're getting a gti, you might be interested to know that vw seriously underated the 01 gti's.....(probobly so it wouldn't interfere with the vr6's market too much, kinda like the si/sir with the gsr)... the vw was rated at 150hp, but dyno'd at like 135, which would really make it more like 160-65......maybe they were conservative with the 180 hp rating of the 02.....the si/sir, dyno'd at something like 142 hp, which equals out to around 170 at the flywheel, honda claimed 160, probobly beacause the gsr is 172......don't believe the hype!!!!

I know what I'm doing. Thanks for the advice though. If anything, I think VW underrated it again. I drove the '01 and I drove the '02 and trust me there is a BIG difference. I was going to get the Si before I found out about the bump in hp. It's just a matter of my own personal taste really. It feels a lot more refined than the RSX or anything else in its price class really.

Grifter TECHNICALLY you will never feel the 15% you lose in your car for the simple reason being you never feel it in the first place
the only way you can tell the differance is if you can mod your engine to get say 127 on a EX at the wheels
but other than that u can never feel the power u lose

You're right - wheel hp is the only component the driver will ever feel, so it's really the only type of hp that matters. Right now the only magazine I know of that actually compares Rated HP vs. Claimed HP is Sport Compact Car.
