Hear what happens when you mis-shift in your RSX
sounds of a mis-treated RSX-S
This moron redlines in 3rd gear, and then accidentally mis-shifts into 2nd...... look carefully as the tach hits 10,000+ .....
"OH SH-IT ! ....... "

<< What the hell happened to the fuel cut-off?
Non-existant I guess. >>
The engine was spinning too fast in the first place and the fuel cut off comes on ONLY when you're giving gas to the car. Yeah, I saw that earler. Happens when people want to shift to 4th but down to second because of how the throws are designed for a 6-speed... they're closer to each other than in a 5-speed. Misshifting in a 5-speed can/will happen to a newbie, but I think it can happen to people who're new to 6-speeds... it almost happened to me when I was trying to find 4th but I was bright enough to just stay in neutral until I found it.
i have never mis-shifted before but i did hit the fuel cut off, it scared the crap out of me.
i was driving behind this old slow guy, when i down shifted to 2nd and passed the guy.
i wasn't paying attention and when i passed the guy the revs hit redline and the fuel cut off
scared the crap out of me, for a few seconds i thought i has blown the engine, then i realized
what had happened.
moral of the story kids, pass slow pokes with care and remember to up shift!

er. yikes. I've accidentally redlined like a few times and hit fuel cut off I think, (lame me) but I duno about accidentally downshifting.. thats nuts.
geez I kinda miss the sound of a throtty engine.. heh. got rid of my aftermarket intake and sometimes I miss the sound when I'm bringing the rpms up.
btw if that is his friend. he shoulda taken it around for a spin NORMALLY first. (and if he did already. he didnt' practice getting use to the 6speed enough.)
at they deserve it for goign so fast on public street anyway. heh.

ive actually done that before, it was a few days ago, i had just gotten done driving my friends car and he has a short shifter, and i got in mine and missed fourth,(i was trying to accelerate quickly) and put it in 2nd, the tach hit about 8500 before i could get it out of gear, nothing happened tho, still runs normal. I'm just a little more careful now.

When that happens.. just push the clutch in... Revs drop in an instant.. I did that MANY times with my first car...Haven't with my civic yet.. although I mishifted bad once... went to pass someone dropeed into 2nd to floor it to avoid oncomming traffic.. cut accross the lane.. let og of the clutch.. GGrgrgtgrgrgtgrgtg.. GRINDING.. almost got hit by a truck ...2nd gears like that..I've learned not to ever downshift to 2nd on our cars..the gear feels like it drops it.. but doesn't..
Cheers

Second and fourth gears are right beside each other, I'm guessing that he probably pulled the shifter towards him as he was shifting, but it should have went into fourth easily because of the way the gear box is designed, so that you don't make the mistake of shifting into second.

I have never had a 6-speed tranny so I don't know what it is like. Although, anyone who says they have never missed a shift is full of sheite. It's like saying you don't beat off.
