I have been torn whether or not to mod my ride and I am with ajhdragon on this one. The fact that need to spend over 10Gs to get the performance I want out of my ride is just a turn off. I would rather spend that on a stock ride with the performance I want. No crazy install work needed to do, no breaking things that shouldn't be broken, etc. I prefer to do the small mods like, exhaust, intake, wheels/rims and a few other small things to make it look more personal.
The money thing really turns me off.

I would switch to bikes. If you parted out your car and returned it to stock you should have most of the $ to get a newer bike... faster, more fun to drive, ect..

bikes are sweet as hell, i just wouldnt reccomend getting one without any type of previous riding experience such as motocross, or tails or whatever. just make sure you can handle it and make split second decisions or you will get hurt

the only thing about bikes that is unappealing to me, because i do not trust myself, is that at certain speeds, a helmet will only keep your skull intact... i've known to many people that have died, and have seen too much war-like carnage due to bike accidents to ever have the nerve to buy one myself. i wish i could, but at the same time i'm glad i don't....
btw hemi, i agree with the suv factor... kind of like why i like my civic, because when you beat someone that is expecting to win, it is priceless. seen this video of the turbo escalade on 24's running 12's?

Wow congrats. You must have flown thru school. I'm on the 4 year plan currently w/ about2 years left. Sorry if I offended you or anything, not my intention.
I would get a bike since you said that you were into them anyway. And they can be modded also... that way you can keep your hobby goin if you want to

Get a house! Much more rewarding. I love mine and I've already appraised out at 20,000+ what I bought it at back in March. Put your money where it belongs first and then spend on cars and bikes. You will thank yourself later

some guy in the street near me was doing wheelies when the bike just tipped over itself and smashed into pieces. the guy was taken to hospital but i'm almost positive he didn't make it. they're dangerous even if you know how to ride. cars cant see you alot of times, some obstacle in the road, or just going too fast. anything can happen. if you do get one tho i would strongly recommend installing some sort of amber drl kit like the one from www.daytime-running-lights.com

I'm with you. I'm done with my car. Cars aren't a passion, they are motherfriekin rubber and metal. I have a house, wife, kid, and I'm in medical school. Go talk to a sickle cell patient that struggles to walk because of pain and your stupid Honda doesn't look too important. I'm driving a civic b/c its efficient, but it'll never be fast. I've learned that taking care of my family and trying to help my community through my church gives me a whole lot more pleasure than blowing all of my hard-earned money on a shitty car (or any car for that matter-there is always something faster).
I have given up on my civic other than comfort (seats, stereo, wider tires for rain). Thos things are important to me b/c they make driving it every day easier. But as far as speed I don't really care. I'd like to have a car where I can have some passing power b/c I am commuting to work about an hour. Half of that is on 2 lane road where I just can't get past the 18 wheelers b/c I'm so slow.
Recently though I've had a change of priorities. I guess being closer to graduating was the impetus. So saving for a house has begun and cars are one the back burner for a couple years

ive always been into cars, i grew up around them from day one being that my father has always owned a body/mechanic shop and my oldest brother not only did some crazy **** to his cars audio wise, but new people who had 300 grand into systems for decibel drag wars.
im crazy about any and all cars and can find beauty in the ugliest of cars. seriously ive found things i like about 80's buicks even hahaha.
ive also got great respect and appreciation for cars.
as far as modding, this is my first car ive really modded and i think ive done alot for my own two hands. at times when the car acts up i wish i had a nice classy car taht was fast too and brand new, but in the end having something unique and built your way BY you is the ultimate satisfaction. and whenever i get bored with my car i buy something new for it then im happy for a good while again.

maybe its time for you to settle with a luxury can and not modify it too much. Like a 3 series or a c class...
I'm kinda sick of modifying cars too now.... i'm 22 though, a li'l too old for a civic, so i'm looking into buying an IS350 by december.

sorry i am not sick of it yet. maybe your growing up? idk, maybe when im old ill want a fast car out of the box. but not even. ill be modding till im dead. unless i can't for some reason anymore. o well.
i mean i KNEW when i bought the car i would mod it. i knew it. i wanted to do it for for evar! and as ricey as it seems i saw TFATF and wanted a nice car. not rice. yea i knew nothing about 4-5 years ago but who cares, i know a shitload now. and i still love it to death.
i mean, to me its a hobby AND a passion. i do it on the side, but it does count for a good chunk of my thoughts. i mean really! i think about when to do what, and i even make lists upon lists of priorities of mods before i think about buying. im **** about modding. everything else i do i don't care about. its my meticulate nature being brought out when i mod my car.
dude, i hope you find what makes you happy, cause thats the only thing thats important.

keep in mind when you guys upgrade to nicer cars, the cost of maintainance goes up. My buddy just bought a BMW 7 series about a year a go; now he needs new tires and it just cost him $1500 for a set of michelin tires and an alignment. Not to metion the tires are W speed rated, so those tires will wear out like crazy.

the w and z and all that are speed ratings and have absolutely nothing to do with treadwear. its just the quality theyre built to and what speeds it can withstand before the nylon layers start to tear off.

I built a bad 3rd Trans Am, by the time is was 17 it was great at the time. And now I have an even faster meaner civic than the TA was. Im 20 and think im burnt out on cars. I'd rather just go buy a car that is nice and fast stock. Which is why the EVO IX is my next car. Anybody else in the same kind of situation as me. I mean I still like and appreciate cars but the whole car lifestyle is just old to me.
hmm..your 20 and already getting sick of them. I'm 20 and I just gotten into it with my own car. I have always been into cars but I never actually owned one until i was 19. I guess i'm a late bloomer.
Passion aside, I do still debate whether or not i should blow money on my car..I mean, when i really think about it. The amount of money I'm going to put towards the vic can go towards an investment, or even a down payment on a better car. I think what i'm going to do is save my money for something better, and have fun with that. Although I'm still going to make it look clean, the engine bay however is probably going to forever stay the way it is.

im 26 and not sick of modding, just ran out of ideas for what i wanted. i started off fixing everything i didnt like about the car, now its all been done.
I hear you man. I stopped trying to mod or even think about modding my Civic a long time ago (still have sway bars lying around). Now I only care about gas mileage and my annual maintenance schedules. I also own a Toyota Mr2 Turbo, but even thinking about modding her gives me a headache. On top of trying to rewire everything back to stock I just do repairs and maintenance to keep her alive and that's all I care about. I'm 25 and I'd rather save money.
The Evo IX is a nice car. Nice power and handling stock. My friend has a nice modded Evo VII and if not for my MR2 project car, I would totally buy one as well. Good luck man. Laters!

1) is because gas is $3 a gallon for premium, 2) its like 90 degrees so not that great for a turbo car 3)still not completly tunned and don't feel like spending a few hundred dollars to do so right now.
I sure wish my car was newer
