2900 is indeed heavy (2920 actually), but compare it to most cars today (rsx, new civics, em2 EXs), its only slightly heavier, and pretty much anything under 3000 lbs is considered light these days.
also, Johnold said that he doesn't really care if it's quick or not, he just wants a new car.

TRD kit =toyota racing developement kit - includes SWAY BARS and drop springs COVERED by WARRANTY!!! way cool!300 pounds over a em2 or dc5 is ALOT. the motor is uptuned 2.4. yes gearing helps but only so much if its a fat pig. i mean with a person thats about 3050 pounds. that is alot for only 160hp. anyway, its a good car but without the TRD kit the handling will suck ***. its just the truth. i think a stock em2 EX does the 0-60 in 7.9 seconds but thats with sucky drivers from edmunds.com i mean i love the TC but i still say it needs the TRD kit.
any BTW yes i have alot of posts for 1 year lol

ok, but an rsx base weighs about 2850 according to acura. and it (tc) is 28 pounds heavier than an 8thgen.

I was under the impression that the TRD Supercharger, TRD Sway bars, and TRD Springs were all seperate accessories.

heres a supercharged tc dyno btw, just the trd sc nothing else. notice the flat torque curve from 2200-redline. typical whp with the trd sc kit and 7psi (OE) pulley are 185-195whp and about 205-211 ft-lbs of torque. this was the guys second run, and they said there was quite a bit of heatsoak (since the compressor sits above the mani, no heatshield, and no intercooler)

wouldn't a supercharger put extra strain on the life of the car? that would break the tc somewhere down the road cause of the extra boost. i know it's a TRD part but doing something to a car like that puts extra strain on it making it (whareout
) faster right?. dunno, how much is this TRD kit anyways? do you guys think that scion is up there with honda's, civics? they seem to be VERY compared.

if you add the cost of a TRD kit then it bring the pricing very close to SI. 16k + 3k bring its close to 19k. The SI is 20k. You can get a Type S usually close to 21k. If your going above 16k then the TC loses its price appeal. The SI is better bang with for your buck at the 19-21k range.

TRD suspension kit on ebay. so dealer would be like 1k installed lol. what a rip. but stock TCs don't come with that so handling is sacrificed.

scion tc's gotta handle somewhat good right?. you make it seem that the tc stock handles like $hit!. i know there's not much going on in a STOCK car but it's gotta be ok for what it comes with stock....right?. i wish i had the money to just **** away for superchargers and whatnot. ohwell, i'll just have to see.

they handle okay, most people with just light wheels and tires do very well at autocrosses.
oh, and about the tuning gearbox, they just reflash the ecu at the dealership, or some dealers send it out. the OE 7psi tune is pretty much the safest tune possible they say, made to make the car a reliable daily car.
what's cool about the tc's ecu is that its rewritable, so some companies working on turbo kits and stuff are able to reflash the ecu with a set tune, and the car runs perfectly, no aftermarket EM.

thats VERY cool mandangalo, thats pretty much the same thing we do at harley with the bikes and their race tuner kits. we can re-write them while in the DYNO room to get the bikes running perfect!. thats pretty cool info mandangalo. that ALONE!, makes me want a scion tc EVEN MORE!!!
