Gurgling engine

Question:
My 2001 Chevrolet Prizm makes a gurgling noise when I accelerate. I was wondering what would cause this?
My friend seems to think I may need a higher octane gas or my fuel filter may be clogged. I also have a little hesitation in the car when it has been sitting over night. I am not sure if these two problems are related.
Any advice as to what is causing this, would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Blahman240 is on a distinguished road
How many miles are on the car. And higher octane gas would not help anything, seeing as the car was ment to only use lower octane.

Um can you stick to the subject. My prizm is a better car than my 01 civic ever was.

Anyway....The car has 51,000 miles on it. This is the first time I am ever noticing anything wrong with the car. I bought the car in 2003 with 19k miles on it.....

Thanks

Try putting a bottle of Chevron Techron in the tank and see if the hesitation goes away. My dad's van had about 40k on it and it hesistated. He tried several brands of fuel system cleaner and they didn't do much but a 20oz bottle of Techron made a drastic difference after a couple hundred miles.

I dont think the oil has anything to do with it, but this week I was planning on getting the oil and the fuel filter changed. The Air Filter is new....

um if you use any additives, goto lubecontrol.com but thats not your problem. Does it sound like water flowing? It could be air bubbles in the coolant. Try bleeding them out. This could also lead to the engine heating up more and decreasing performance.

My 00 Corolla (same engine as yours, 1ZZ-FE) would require premium fuel during hot weather because the engine would spike/detonate under load. A simple test is to run the current gas to a low level then put in premium gas and drive a couple of days to test. Not really the sound you describe.

You also want to monitor oil level as some of these models will consume oil.

The Prizm was a great car !! Sad to see them get the ax after 02.

My manual doesnt say anything about putting in premium fuel. Right now I cannot afford to put premium fuel in, prices are too high.

I havent had any problems with low oil levels yet...I am getting the oil changed in 2 hours...
Lets see what happens after my visit to the mechanic

Does the "gurgling" sound sound anything like a water bong? Or like blowing water bubbles with a straw? Cause i have the same thing on my 02 civic ex when i accelerate.

Well I went to the shop. The changed the oil, and gave me a bottle of Chevron Techron. He said one of my injectors were clogged. The fuel filter is in the gas tank on this car, so they couldnt change it.
I have to wait until I fill up my tank and then put the chevron techron in before I get gas.....

When my Chevy made that sound (coming from the engine), it was because it was having coolant issues, like air bubbles in the coolant lines. The overheating issues followed shortly after that.
