Swapping Engines in 2k1 Civic EX

I'm into performance, and I've already accomplished the pimped out look and aggressive look. Just need new headlights or clear the ones I have. But I have a question on swapping engines in my car. As we all know its a 1.7 SOHC engine. What engine would fit and be the best in our cars. I want a DOHC engine and I'm think about swapping in a B16A or B16B engine. Does anyone know if these engines would fit or would any mods have to be done to the car first.

Or do you think that the engine we all have now could amount to the strength and power of a higher engine. I mean would it be for better or for worse. I believe stock B16s have 160horses. Correct me if I'm wrong. But would it be worth it to have that engine in the car. Supposed I added a turbo which one would be better suited for one?

Any comments/answers would be appreciated.

Randy

Many people have already heard/seen the HKS prototype Turbo for the 2k1 Civics. Personally that's what I would do for my car if I wanted performance. Since an engine swap would be a sad waste of a great piece of machinery. Plus it would go further to show up the Civic haters if we turned the stock vehicle into a high performance racer instead.

Dude, this topic has been discussed so many times before! DO a search on this and you can find out what everyone has said about it. I'm sure it can be done if you got the funds and don't mind voiding out all your warantee's. Just do a search man.

<rolls the eyes> DO A SEARCH!!!!!!! THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN BEATEN TO DEATH!!!!

if ya wanted performance why did you buy a brand new Civic thats why theres tons of older Civics out there both Coupe and Hatch that will take an engine swap better and cheaper than these cars.

i completely agree with hudathan, if you have limited funds and want one big bang for the buck. so, if you want to spend around 5 grand, by a solid turbo kit w/ intercooler, this should net you 50-70hp at 6-8psi, depending on your other mods, thats pretty respectable and you will run 15's.......if you want to go fast, and have lots of money then you should definatley start with a better platform (there's nothing wrong with the 1.7, but if you want to go fast....) wouldn't you rather start with 160hp, and a better breathing dohc engine? do the internals, and then throw on a turbo kit at 15-20 psi, then you will be running 13's or better with a well built engine. thats lots of speed, but you'll need lots of $$$$$$$..........

oh and I forgot to mention just wait for the turbo. Its not gonna be as powerful as a B series engine with Turbo, but your not going to fit a B series engine in the 2k1 unless you chop off the front end and add about a foot of space or get rid of your AC power steering etc if you wanted a b series motor they did make 00 Si's and 01 GSR's/Type R's if your gonna use "I wanted a New Car" as an excuse.

hey neomagus, i wonder if thats what the 96 civic owners were told too. why did you buy a new civic?, buy a 92-95, it's cheaper and easier to swap an h22 into those cars.....thank god they didn't all listen..... maybe the 2k1 shell looks better and cleaner than the older civics?, someones gotta push-ahead, and do the things that don't make the most sense right now, so that in the future it will be cheaper and easier for the rest of us.......

horsepower is only as good if you can make the most out of it. If you want speed, get a bike. i can rev mine to 13 grand, and it will smoke any civic out there. getting out of 2nd gear and your already doing 120km/h. I cant do that on my civic. i just use the civic as my daily driver. plus i only paid 4 grand for the bike. instead of 21 for the car. its such as rush!!

first of all the B16B is one of top 5 engines of all time imo...that engine is some crazy shiz and one day i'll swap engines out of this car...if performance is on ur mind then definately swap cuz why would u want to start tuning an engine that is already at a 60hp disadvantage?? and lastly the one thing more annoying than ppl askin questions bout same topic all the time is the ppl that decide to post "DUDE DO A SEARCH ITS ALREADY BEEN BROUGHT UP 200 TIMES!!" we all already know this and don't need to here u whine bout it, just let it go or don't reply at all
