Why would you mod a car and worry about what OTHERS think? its your car, do i would hope you would do what you want, not otheres, as some of the mroe rational members here have already stated. And if you are into cars, you will mod it if its your only car, i highly doubt you would only "do a few things" and stop there, especially if its your only car. ITs like a drug, once you start, its hard to stop. But there will always be stubborn people who will still be biased. A civic is a regular car, just like a kia. And honestly I have found mine in particular much easier to work on than a civic, and yes I have done quite a few to civics. including helping install a turbo-kit on a 99si. Mainly you need to be more specific, because implying a civic is better than a kia, is a bit broad, try being model specific, like civic vs spectra, etc. thats just as bad as saying the spectra is better than a honda, well which honda...theres a ton. And yes there are some, I;d take mine over a d17 any day, but thats my preference, not yours. I respect those who can respect others for what they do and can relate. The touble with many of the younger tuners is they do not realise the roots and how the tuner markets got started, and what got, and still do, from the domestic crowd. Oh well. have fun arguing which car is better (in general) because its all personal perference, and there is no right or wrong in that.

looks like ive been banned over there, oh well---im all for modding even if it is a kia, i just dont like bs, its a drain on the streetracing subculture as a whole, i not only dont like it when people talk of how they beat a car that not only is made to perform at a higher class then theirs but also they seem to get a bigger ego because of it. i know honda was also the same way kia is right now, when it first enterd the us market, the domestics were having a field day at the jap imports, but when the datsun z came to the states, things started to look up for all imports, honda from there took it to crx's to si's, to tegs, to s2000s, and now its considered one of the most revered legends in america...next to other top imports like nissan, toyota, subaru, and mazda.


i know in a a decade or so, people are going to notice the kia in the same way, but what i dont like is the overall rice already clogging the vital arteries of kia performance. i never had anything bad to say about kia, just the person driving it.

hey ive seen sports car revolution, ive seen that one clip of a kia spec 5 literally keeping up with a 450hp porche 911 (the kia only had 200) on the race track. so we very well know kia gots some potential. just need some intelligent people to to bring it to light and keep the bs at bay.

I'm not sure it was right to really have all the civic people go over and raise hell. We'll get some tools on here every once in a while, for which we take a little heat, but they shouldn't characterize the site. I'm sure the Kia site has tons of info, in spite of a few overzealous members.

A problem with the "Kias have potential" thing is you can make anything and do anything with MONEY!!!
You ever see videos of the full sized tractor trailer trucks (-trailer) racing? They look like they could never turn fast but enough money and time and effort and they can do it.
Everything has potential...but very few have money and knowledge. So yeah there might be one or two fast kias this side of the universe. There are also a few 7th gens with 500+ horses or built for all track use that outrun cars with alot more horsepower but you have to keep in mind with money you can do just about anything.

i'm going to lock tihs now, cuz i think we've beaten this topic enough. my intent was not to send a **** ton of trolls over to the kia forum (hence the reason i actually asked you guys to stop a while back). but there was some bs flyin around for sure, though that happens on every site. as kevo dafro stated, unfortunately there seems to be a bit too much of it on SK, though him and the other knowledgeable members try to keep it in check.
