sounds about right for stock evo. I don't know an AWD is going to be slower from a roll. So maybe it was a legit vid

I dont think there is any MAYBEs about it. lol First of all, the civic has the advantage over the evo 8 in power to weight ratio from a roll-on. It could possibly be a different story on the drag strip because the hole shot means a lot and thats where the evo 8 has the advantage with its AWD design. Secondly, why would the owner of the evo 8 ever stand down to a honda or any other car for that matter, especially on a film that was apparently organized?

So I just though that maybe they were just messing around at lower speeds to make the hatch look so fast.
one very important thing you are forgetting is drivetrain loss. awd will have much more drivetrain loss than fwd ... a typical stock evo will dyno around 230-240 whp ... but again, they are much, much heavier than a hatch

I have seen alot of vids and it just didn't seem like the evo was running that hard. Just my opinion though not that it means anything

AWD cars have to divide all the hp among all 4 wheels which means the whp is gonna naturally be much lower than hp at the crank.

a stock rsx will dyno at around 175 whp so figure the hatch with a stock rsx engine should be about the same. so that would make a 60-70 hp difference. I do agree about the AWD being a disadvantage from a roll and the weight issue

I like the ricey AEM decal on the Evo8 stuck onto the rearview mirror, if he has a CAI and has upped the boost, he might have over 300hp. Also, it didn't sound like he was pushing it and it also sounded like he hit the rev limiter more than once, so the guy obviously has problems shifting.

The type of intake does not matter on a boosted car he has a FMIC . The only thing that he could do in that manner is replace the shitty soft hoses with hard piping and it would spool faster. As far as the boost I am almost certain that 22psi is what a stock evo runs. But yeah it does sound as if someone missed a gear.

OK bout the Evo8... The Evo runs 17psi stock. It spikes at 19 just after 3k because of the shitty wastegate they come with.

Most evo owners set an MBC to 19psi so it doesn't fall off after it initially spools. The Evo is definately not a highway car stock. My Turboi civic felt as fast as the Evo on the highway. From a dead stop the evo would win (obviously) but the 1/4 times will be very close. This is stock for stock btw.

From the sounds, and a guess, the Evo had just the AEM intake. Which you can't hear under WOT, only under 30% throttle with a slow spool will you hear the filter. The Hatch sounds like it had just an intake and a cat-back.

The K20A is a force to be reconned with plain and simple. NA it will be the dominate motor. Now on a full course the Evo would smoke the hatch, because that's what it's intended for. On the highway, a modded K20 hatch would waste evo's unless the Evo has some extensive mods.

Both cars are sick, and well respected. For an NA car, K20 is the only motor I'd ever stick with. For boost, the possibilies are endless, with the right money...

Nice Vids, Nice Vic.
