by the way. i own a focus and i know about the zetec etc.
hold onto your seats people, this may be a shocker : the ZETEC was around before honda even thought of vtec. It is an old engine style that cosworth (a german racing company) made and put into la mans cars etc. now ford when they made their zetec motor years ago took some of the ideas from the cosworth ZETEC since they are what some would call partner companies. so then ford just carried on the name ZETEC.
and no the zetec motor does not have vct. the svt has it on its intake cam but the regular zetec motor does not have what you guys would call vtec. just wanted to clear that up.

Rep Power: 0 Cosworth is a British engineering company, not German, and yes the Ford Cosworth Zetec R engine was raced in Formula 1. Michael Schumacher won the 1994 F1 Driver's Championship in a Benetton-Ford Zetec R V8.

^^ not really, Vtec, Vanos VVTL-i are all forms of altering cam profiles for better performance or economy,
Zetetc is the name of an engine. Just like B16 is the name of a specific engine or SR20DET is the name of an engine.
see the differnece, the B16 has Vtec, but it isnt Vtec. Where the Zetetc is just a Zetetc engine.

It'd be best for a mod to just lock this thread and let it die. zarelli6 should be beaten for 2 reasons. A. bringing this thread back from the dead and B. Trying to crusade for the Focus on this forum.
