Not to mention the new ION, and Sunfire and pretty sure the Cavalier all have the 2.2L EcoTec.

The Saturn has 137 and I think the Sunfire is 140, not sure what the Cavy is pushing though. Also the fact that they offer a drop in turbo for this engine.

And the ION Redline is coming out next year Februaryish with turbo I think and like 180hp or something.

If my EX coupe had the DOHC 160hp that would be sick. It will make 160 one day but not on DOHC.

No. It's the only car that doesn't have them as an option. lol, a lot of cars (esp. base models) have them (manual cranked windows) standard but they also offer power windows as options.

Good point but do you know how much engineering safety wise went into the Mini Cooper? (it's even smaller but one really safe car, or so I've been told) The Honda City isn't much smaller than a Civic but it does offer some serious competition for any car in the compact market.

For sure, dual gear changing. I think they call it steermatic. Automatic with 7 gear manual combo.

I'm predicting the new Civic will:

- Bump up to 1.8L for DX/LX, with 130-140hp
- Bump up to 2.0L for EX, with 150hp. They're not gonna make it more powerful than the Accord 4 cyl, which has 160hp.
- Dramatic bump in height, inch or two wider in width.
- Offered in coupe, sedan and new "Matrix-like" 4 dr hatch.
- To increase fuel economy, move to 5 speed automatic transmission.
- Possibly offer "direct injection" engine to improve fuel economy (http://world.honda.com/news/2003/4031127.html)

I'll tell you what Honda is thinking...$$$! Just they should be. The civic is 6th or 7th highest selling car in America. Do you think that actually care whether the corolla, or the sentra, or the protege has more HP?

We may not like it, but Honda markets to the masses. The attention they get from the sport compact car scene is just a welcome side effect. They like that people mod up civics, but their bread & butter is in the fact that it's a well built, inexpensive, gas friendly, economy car that everybody seems to own at one point in thier life.
