8th gen civic.
ok i know this topic has been beaten down to death and put to the grave.
however, im just wondering if there are any pictures out yet? sorta like the prototype 8th gen. im pretty sure there are some out there because its already on the 04 - 05 redesign stage, next gen will be out in 06, i know this is a big debate on the release year, but were not gonna discuss that - lol. so

It would be nice to at least see them do someting with the Si. I'll understand if they want to keep the rest of the line as a dependable, economy cars that meets price points. But why not just go all out on the Si, especially now that it doesn't even look like the rest of the civics?

I think Honda will just go ***** out and plop a 260-Hp V8 Civic BEAST on the American market. And it'll come complete with a six-speed transmission, a rally-sport suspension, a deafening sound system, 18 inch wheels, carbon fiber trim interior, leather seats w/ seat warmer, OnStar, LCD monitors, and an optional sport package including a built in PSX console, carbon fiber hood/spoiler, and ground effects with underbody neons.
....Or they'll just slop together another slow *** eco-car with MacPherson struts and **** everybody off.

i myself dont see a power increase coming and sadly i alos dont see the looks gettign any better either i dont liek a lot of the new cars that are coming out now it seems liek they are just kinda slopped together and squared off. They are tryign to be TO futuristic i think, and its making me mad

^^ agreed. the HB Si is where honda messed up... IMO. im just more of a coupe fan than a HB.. oh well... maybe this is kinda off topic, but does it seem like all the 6thgen civic owners hate on the 7thgen guys??... no offense to any 6thgen ppl

We'll see if they do it, but I'm not holding my breath.

those of us that wants fast civic... are still the minority, mmkay?
like someone mentioned.. it'll be a baby accord...
its going along that trend lately.. every since our generation... instead of cheap reliable econobox.. its becoming more expensive and more like a cheaper version of an accord.

I'm being told it will still be a SOHC so 127 is probably the target number. Hard to argue with them. They keep doing it and it keeps selling like crazy.

We can hope all we want to but we all know that there wil NOT be a huge power increase in our beloved civ. Honda is all about economy with the civic and I think thats where they are goin to stay.
All we can look for is an optional dealer package with upgraded tires and rims.

yeah...like the over priced FP package! I'm sure the 8th gen civic will still be a 1.7 but i think they will squeeze a few extra horses out of it. maybe go back to the 4 wheel double wishbone also like in the 6th gens. they REALLY need to bring back the si coupe. the hatch did very poor the past two years. if they are going to make a hatchback, it should be like the 5th and 6th gens. has anyone driven the V6 6-speed coupe? that thing is amazing!!!

I'm hoping for better power and a better quieter/sportier ride. They can do it. There is so much that the competition has that the Civic can have.
Somethings I'm pretty sure the next Civic will have:
Mac struts
Controls on the Steering wheel (similar to the Accord)
Rear armrest
and some other things that can keep it competative...

We can only hope for more displacement but I wouldn't want Honda to bring over anything smaller than the vic. Have you ever seen what happens to an ECHO when it gets in a wreck???
I don't know what Honda is thinking. When the 5th gen came out with 125-127 hp in the ex it was top of the class. Now everybody is beating it. 130in the corolla, 140 in the protoge, 140 (?)in the sentra. What is the deal. I'm not even going to get in to the sporty versions. (SE-R, Mazdaspeed).
