i attempted to do a search on HX but the search parameter is too small.

i recently became interested in purchasing an 04 HX. so i went to a dealer. initialy they told me that they will need to order one because there's none on the lot and other dealers in the area (new england) do not carry it. next day i was told that the car is in the brochure & order catalog, HOWEVER honda has not built them and will not build them (even if ordred). these cars, simply do not exist.

huh?

According to Honda's website, they have an HX in 2004.
http://www.hondacars.com/models/mode...me=Civic+Coupe

Edmunds also shows the model:
http://edmunds.com/new/2004/honda/ci....num5.1.honda*

There is no news on Honda's site about discontinuing the HX. The HX is the model for Honda to show off their VTEC-E and CVT technology. There's no real reason, other than lack of sales, to discontinue it before the next generation change.
If you can find proof that it IS in fact discontinued, plz post it here.

Why would a Civic HX sound like a moped? It sounds like any other Civic sitting at a constant RPM. CVTs are totally awesome. If the HX would have had just a few more options (power windows is a big one), I probably would have got one over my EX.

you answered yourself rite there. most mopeds have CVT. the constant RPM is what i was referring to. i would call a mustang with a CVT = sounding like a moped. i think you took me literaly thinking i'm making fun of the civic engine. that's not the case.

boostedciviczex, doesnt that constant RPM sound get annoying?

how much did the turbo project run you? how many psi? (if you have a link to your post in this regard, let me know)

nah the noise doesnt get annoying, i like it. im runing 4lbs on my cvt right now and im going to raise it pretty soon. Only problem with the cvt and having turbo is, if you just wanna cruise on the highway and go over 72mph, and barely press the gas pedal, i mean barely, you go into boost and before you know it your going 100mph lol.

I think im the only turbo'd civic hx cvt in the world lol. Sf had to make custom piping cause the transmission was in the way. They had to shave off some of my intake on the turbo inorder to fit a pipe otherwise i wouldnt have a cone filter, just a screen covering the turbo intake which would have sucked.

the hx is above lx and dx as in speed, its below ex but the hx auto cvt can beat an auto ex in a race any day.

so the RPM position depends on the throttle position?

ok.. what i meant is the RPM is not always around 6500, correct?

for example at partial throttle, say 10%, it could be 3000 RPM, at 50% it could be 4000 RPM..

the more gas you give it the higher the RPM it keeps it at.
is that how it is?

ive only had the turbo for a week i still havent been to the track or have done a dyno. well i provided some of my own parts and bought like 85% of sf parts to keep the cost down. i am the prototype hx for sf. they are having a price special right now for 2900.
