No way. We have fully built Monster LS/Vtecs that have been running daily for over a year, and no problems with them. These are over 200 at the wheels NA motors. We also have stafford's customers (2 or 3) who have our built motors as well. You wont have any problems. It all relies on the builder, and we have been doing this for 13 years, with world records in Honda/Acura.

DH what if say you just buy a Turbo for like a RX-7 and have it installed are you saying that running turbo doesnt reduce the engines life span??? or just the turbos you all have installed??

Lets do the math 17,500 for a civic, 3,000 for a K20 engine, around 3,000 for the install including labor and all parts now if you add other bolt ons such as exhaust, intake, new coil over suspension you should be around 27k or more. Now im not saying doing swaps are stupid but for all that cash spent on that install why not just buy a car around that same price for that would still be faster then your car with all those installs???? one that i can think of is the WRX or the EVO 8????
I will take any Honda and for 2000-3000 be able to murder a STI or Evo 8

Its all on who does the work. Adding a turbo to a stock motor with say 5 psi wont hurt, but just make sure you dont make the common mistake of leaning out your motor. Budget turbos are reliable when you get a quality lineup of parts. Or spend the $150 for a turbo rebuild kit, and have it done. Let me know any other questions.

DH would it be possible to have a turbo built specifically for my Honda Non Vtec D17? and if so can you send me you guys info so that i can see how much it will cost and the gains it will yield. I know off hand adding a turbo i will need an Oil Cooler, Intercooler, Larger Fuel Rod, Turbo Timer, but i really dont know what else. This may sound stupid but is there a Guide to adding a turbo???

We are running 9 PSI, and our Ported head and breaking way into the 12's for sure. This all done with much less then the 15k you are talking about. Now the logical thing would be to get a D17 sleeved, and fully built custom bolt-ons, and use Stafford Kits. This would have the ease of being a NHRA car with no problems. With the proper suspension and traction/axles you could easily launch deep into the 10's or as far as you can handle it. K20 would be nice yes, and to boost it would be a thrill, but, and I say BUT K20 Motors like the old ITR's come pre-built why do you think they make so much power. You can build them and do the same thing as the D17, but both in our eyes, and SF's eyes the D17 has a lot more room for optimizing power, and pushing limits. Just a little thought before you go breaking your pocket just to say you have a K20.
Couldn't you do the same to a k20 for a little more $$ and be even faster with a stronger engine? It would take every $ of the 10k you have left after suspension and misc parts. to get the civic pushing mid or low 10's.

im really not sure i have never done an engine swap and have only saw the famous K20det engine swap being done but maybe you could. I mean im not trying to be a hater im just trying to understand why ppl invest 20 g's into a civic when its just a civic but i will be quient i dont want to start an argument i will just allow ppl to do what they want keep up the good work you all

What could you possibly do with $2000/3000 that could possibly have our civic within 3 car lengths of evo????

That would be a great DIY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give half your money to DH-racing, have him port and polish your head, install a custom intake manifold, bore your throttle body, stage 2 regrind your cam, put in lower compression pistons, titanium springs and retainers, eagle rods

I would love this above setup^

Well I reply with this. The same thing that had us holding the all motor world record in 1997. I would do the following:

$550 - Highly Ported Intake Manifold And Billet Throttle Body
$500 - SOHC Vtec Ported Head With High Flow Valves
$125 - Crank Pulley
$300 - Lightened Flywheel And 6 Puck Clutch
$350 - High Compression Pistons
$100 - Adjustable Fuel Regulator
$400 - Headers
$100 - Intake
$350 - Exhaust With Custom Piping

Now if you look at this then it comes to $2775, and that would be our Built SOHC motor basically with the bolt ons needed. My buddy has this exact setup, and is running 13.4 consistently. Ask Mike from SF if you don't believe in this. Our all motor SOHC we just had in Dave's car was making well over 200 at the wheels. Budget isn't always crappy work. We don't rob your pocket to put you ahead of the competition, but don't think you couldn't get a kit from Stafford and do the same thing, it's just which route you want, NA or FI. Also get his kit get a ported head, and some other bolt-ons, and see deep into the 12's.

This would also work. We do it all, one reason we make more power then anyone on the dyno, now that Stafford works in conjunction with us the Turbo scene is going crazy, so many more options, ect...

Nevermind then he uses brand new turbos. You wouldn't have any issues with his kit.

What should be done to the engine in order to prep the car for a higher boosting SF turbo kit.

You could boost 20 PSI on that if you tune it properly but 15 would be very reliable with that setup.
