I hope you also dont feel volvos and mazdas, as they are also made by ford, if you consider ford being the parent company "made by ford".

if your buying this car as a keeper for the next 10+ years... i would go for x type or A4. as you know, evos change their appearence every 2-3 years. on the other hand, jags' line of cars all have a consistant style, the shape of the car "never" changes (except for a few curves.) while the A4 will change theirs every 6-7 years?
Umm, neither of those cars would last 10+ years. lucky if you dont have problems after five. Not trying to flame, but those cars are horrible cars in the long run. My family has delt with both makes and never went back to either because of reliability issues. A family friend works for the local Jaguar dealership and he himself wouldnt recommend another one to my father when he was looking for a new car.

On the other hand, while the EVO may be new, its engineering will definately last longer if taken care of, but the looks may not be all that stylish after the same amount of time.

get a G35 coupe or a Z. i know you don't like RWD cars but at least you wont lose every highway race that goes above 80-90.

I'd go with the Evo just cause there isn't as many on the road yet. But if you much rather have the "luxury car" feel over the "import scene" feel, go with the A4.

The Jaguar X-Type is based on the Ford Contour platform. The X-Type is assembled in England by Jaguar, but a lot (not all...) of the parts used in the X-Type are designed and made by Ford.

i heard that when Ford company bought jaguar, they change the transmissions to have a ford transmission..
